Hello everyone, I am HexabusSpeculaas. I have just recently aquired Club Temptations. It is a beautiful club, unlike anything people have seen in SL and i got it for a great deal. Problem is that I have never ran a club before. I have 3 other investors who are active in the club but, they have never run a club before. We are running nightly events and having nightly DJ's, also giving away lots of L for contests. The problem is that we can't keep giving out this L, the club was going good before we bought it but between our closing time on the club it has lost most of its patrons and residents (from the apts above) also merchants for the vendor areas below. I need to find out how I can get this club out there, once people go they agree that this is a club like no other in SL, it isjust had to get people to come, I have had 1000L events and only had 10 people show. I can not keep throwing that kind of money out for such small turnouts. I would appriciate if I could get some vendor sponsors to give out prizes it turn i will promote then and offer them a reduced price in the vendor areas. I know that their are really helpfull people out there who are willing to help out and get involved, if so, please IM me in world, thanks.

I'd go the prize route as much as possible and not give out Linden. Also, I'd look at finding a way to maximize your rental space as much as possible. Unfortunately, it isn't the best of times to be buying a club, but good luck to you. I tried my first products (clothing, hair and other little objects) to give away to patrons in lieu of money. Most of them were kind enough to act glad about it until I got better. :-) that or they became better actors. lol

Good luck to you.

I might add, that for folks who not just after Lindens, friendly, helpful people hanging about can be important.

I don't mean to sound mean... but this sounds like 'I have never operated a factory and just bought one... but... err... so what do I do now?' In RL you probably don't just buy a factory to only find out you have no idea how to run it.

I am sure you must have ideas about how to get out the word. If not, then meet with your partners, and do brainstorming, think of ideas that could help. What is your goal, how much money, energy you're willing to spend, etc.

Have you looked for advertising opportunities in SL? (Banners, MetaAdverse, Classifieds, maybe sponsoring events?)

Have you created groups to notify ppl. when events are starting?

You could also hire professionals, like people with experience with managing a club in SL. Or talk with ppl. from other clubs, but maybe ones that have quit doing it, not anyone who's a competitor.

L$ 1000 event prizes? I don't think that much is needed. Given SL's current economy, I think even less could be enough, maybe L$ 250 or 500 is enough to attract ppl. to have a look.

But at last, if you club is REALLY that good, and you're doing a lot of nice events, just keep doing it and wait. If you keep doing it good, the word will get out soon, and people will come.

Personally, I think your events are only as good as your host. I went to a dance hosted by Brace Coral recently and she really opened my eyes to some new hosting techniques.

She gave away 1 and 5 linden prizes for silly stuff. She kept the conversation going. She got people to interact with each other. She wasn't afraid to go nuts. She was very entertaining and really made the event -- which otherwise would have been just another salsa.

Events usually get 5-10 folks in the events calendar and then spread by word of mouth. People will talk about your event if they have fun.
