Pumpkin Chunkin', and the flinging of things...
11-03-2004 10:28
Elle Pollack hosted a pumpkin throwing contest held at Rizal|Sports on 10/30 about 17:00 in-world. It was great fun, though there were only two entrants to about a dozen plus spectators. I think Elle did a great job, but more builders would be better. There was great enthusiasm for a more regularly scheduled contest involving the flinging of things... Perhaps each month could have a thematic object selected? On a practical note, it became apparent that the flung objects need to have a reporting and/or locator script. When a device flings something a few sims away, or even a couple hundred meters into water, it can be tough to locate. Whether this is quick and dirty, like IMing the owner, or actually coordinated through a message to a scripted contest controller/leader board object, well... we'll see who's motivated, eh? Just a thought. This was a hoot of an event.

Well, wec already got boxing, but if someone could take the time to develop wrestling moves for matches that would be awsome.

Hooboy.... *starts coding the inevitable 'wieldable' folding chair* With the advent of Cubey Terra's new Terra Combat system, we're plotting air-based and ground-based WW1-style dogfighting...

I wish we can drive cars better here to do races!!!! That is all I miss about There, I can't lie about that.... I keep going there to race....I sure miss that....
Everytime I try to drive my sport nice looking car here, I get stuck under the ground, or fly away with it, suddenly I separate from my car and I land in the moon lol
Oh well, I gave up!!

Slayings, mutilations, decapitations, stonings, hangings, firing squads, pyromania. That kinda thing. We can start with club goers and work up.
Sounds like fun to me.

here's an idea, don't know if would work, but:
subdivide a parcel so that one center block is surrounded on all sides.
completely bar everyone from getting in the surrounding parcels, to create impenetrable "walls", and hold a push-gun / dodge ball contest.
also, more scripted RPG type games. (I have some ideas for some, but also stretched thin on a lot of other projects)
Great thread, BTW.

- Swearing and insults event, or flames.
- Throwning event ; including AV throwing, if it can be done, somehow (a la verticaly challenged people throwing).
- Zen event ; stay motionless for an hour, whoever goes AFK at one point loses.
- Games, like "it" where the player who is "it" runs after others and has to touch someone to get rid of "it".
- Chat perché. Have people walk about and at the end of a music or countdown everyone has to jump on some objet (table, chair...) the last one is removed from game until only the winner is left.
- "Lasertag" style things, people shoot others with special guns that do not harm but keep scores. Done in some land parcel with maze and obstacles.
- AV sex cybering contest (I'd so be there watching and taking notes), each couple get one part of the hour to act and people votes at the end on the ones who had the more style or they liked better.
- And the thousands of RL games you can recreate or use for inspiration in SL....

zippity, I hear that those flung objects could be scripted like bullets to fade away after a few seconds. So no need to worry about a mess. Can't remember how its done though as I'm not a scripter.
