They are completely useless. Just stating a well known fact. Carry on.

I dont think events are useless. It is tough to get events going, and posting them on the website for in world search can be a pain because it doesnt always show for all people, ie sl acting up like today. Doing events is always in how your market your idea and your place. I am no expert, but the little I have read of people who do know what they are talking about, it is all in the marketing.

Just my opinon... :-)

No, events are wonderful things that bring similar people together. Events listing is completely useless. I'm sick of sifting through "OMG SALE SALE SALE SALE FREE LINDENS SALE SALE SALE GRAND OPENING YARD SALE SALE SALE SALE" To the point where I get a headache before I see something interesting.

Group to post events and find events
01-07-2008 09:57
I started a group called BLAST because I find searching events hard to do. It seems if I don't hit the first 2 words in the key words exactly right they don't come up.
BLAST is a service intended to connect Event Hosts and people looking for things to do.
If this sounds interesting look up BLAST in group search, it's free to join.

take the sales outta events
01-09-2008 06:34
I agree strongly with the comment about being sick of 'sale events'-they are not events and should be removed from the lists; how to do it-get someone from Linden to moderate! The events list is being spammed. For example;I like trivia events-now when i search there is a long list of trivia 'events'(every half hour)-which you discover are not events at all but merely an advert for a trivia machine that you pay to play-this could easily be sorted out/moderated-Lindens do something! Help! ps-i'll volunteer to do it! lol

Yes and No on events, there sections to post them. Like for retailers with sale, there is commercial. What drives me nuts are the retailers posting in the Entertainment/Nightlife part of the event posting. I would understand if they were having a DJ and Dancing, but 99% of are not. (95% the dj bores the hell out of me of the events) LL should crack down this. I have posted sales events, but there is DJ'ing, Dancing, and Event with prizes, and I usually DJ'ing them myself. Drives the nieghbors nuts because I end up crashing the sim with some of my events because of all the avatars. whahhahahaha

Finding an event is no big trick...
01-11-2008 22:12
you can narrow down the type of event you are looking for using the dropdown box on the search tool. There are twelve types of events counting the all category.

There is still the problem of people listing events in categories that arent appropriate though. Such as lising sales under the category of live music. People abusing the listings should be reported (if there is somewhere to report such abuses).

We are allowed to post an event in as many categories as we can up to 5 listings per day.

I for instance list Shore Babes live music under 3 categories. Live music, nightlife/entertainment and miscellaneous. That seems to me to be reasonable and appropropriate.

So I guess my point is that you can use the search tool better to find just a certain type of events and my rant is that too many people abuse the categories so my point is moot. *smirks*

event board abuse

the event calendar would be nice, if it was monitored to prevent people from abusing it. i see the same buisness posting 12 aday for at least 3 events, that's 36 posts in the same day. when the policy clearly states not to, and makes it hard for people to find other events when all they see blairing at them is one place.
I has sent 2 abuse reports to LL, but now after 2 weeks nothing has been done. The buisness continues to post just as many events.
