And those people are -

The Residents

As little as I know about them, it's enough to make me surprised that they haven't jumped on this technology yet, at least to play with it. Does anyone know? Or, does anyone have experience inviting artists like these to come stage an event on SL?

Who says they aren't here?

JK - I made up a "classic" residents AV out of a freebie tux and made the eyeball head and cane for myself. Would be very cool to see them do something in-world, and like you I'm surprised they haven't been pretty active here, just seems like the kind of rampantly creative types that would be attracted to SL.

I love Negativland.

Saw them a couple years ago. They had us sit down for storytime and a puppet show.

That must have been awesome. Their book about copyright & getting sued "The Letter U and the Numeral 2" is required reading in a lot of law schools.

*edited to add* btw, what brought you to AMC? I've always wanted to go.

l.a.'s 'home of the brave'
d.b.'s 'alive from off-center' pbs series

i'm an indie comics artist....and i try to go every year, it's usually a pretty fun time....it's in detroit this year but i can't go cuz my lil sister is getting married.

the first year i went was when negitivland was the key note speaker. it was a great talk. yeah they talked about their U2 album. hehe....and they talked about when they claimed to be the cause of a teenage suicide....and then they showed a bunch of clips of videos that they have made. they were working on some video with clips from the little mermaid...and they were waiting to get sued by disney. that's about all i remember from that.

I just found a clip from Bad Day at the Midway on YouTube, and I think I know now why they might not be here. SL likely renders far too crudely to meet their needs.

I lurked over to say something crazy...then I lurked over to ya link...and it was really realy realy cool. We should really get together and have a hand of Magic the Gathering! Or rp something like an astromomy club meeting or something. I just think that would be really , really cool! Do you ballroom dance too?

I've thought the same thing about Beck... he seems like another artist who would really be interested in SL's crazy, ultracreative environment. Maybe somebody like Blue Man Group as well.... SL could really take that sort of performance art to a whole new level.
