Apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseum. In the wake of a RL/SL conference I attended ( http://www.beyondbroadcast.net) and the BBC SL/RL concerts this weekend, I have been wondering about what do people already know about how to host successful cross-world events? Ideally I would like to see clearly available "best practices" for conference organizers who want to build in real world components, or vice-versa. That way, future organizers won't have to re-invent the wheel. Pathfinder Linden was telling me that probably the best people to talk to about his are the live music residents, since they are absorbed with creating an immersive environment for their audience. While that is helpful, I think there are different problems associated with hosting conferences versus concerts. Anyone have any bright suggestions or people who whose brains would be good to pick? What is the best SL/RL event you attended and why? Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks! Any ideas on who has done good work on this in the past?
It would be great to have a discussion in-world on this. I could probably get Berkman or the SL Library to let us use their space for a meeting.

We have done this

We have done this with music - http://multiverserecords.com/2006/04/21/dream-box-event-in-portland-oregon/ and are looking at doing conferences as well. We just hosted the 1st Bar Camp in SL. The Sheep (Electric Sheep Company) hosted the event where we participated in SL with the SD Forum - http://www.thoughtplasma.com/?p=46 - and were able to ask questions of the panel IRL. I am very interested in this topic and have done lots of research and would be willing to share some ideas about this topic. As well as pick your brain on what you have discovered. Look me up in world or drop an e-mail to thoughtplasma(at)yahoo.com
