Hey all,

just wondering about your opinion on the current events on SL. I would like to be original and stand out, but all I see are the same kind of events like "best in..." and I see no need in yet putting another one in the list that way..

I would like to do sponsored events for established and new designers. I know this has been done before; what are your experiences with those kind of events?

Best regards,

I'm not sure what you mean by sponsored events?

Do you mean that you would hold events? Like "Club Rizzy presents jewelry makers of SL? Live music, displays and interviews, etc"

Or that you would get a biz or two to put up the money to hold an event..like an SL infomercial? Like "Bug Cola presents Live Music Night with your MC Bug Cola Bud"?

Both have been done and both can be very successful if done well.

I personally like the showcase event best which it sounds like what you have in mind because you get to see what people are doing. Especially interesting if its new people cause they are easy to overlook.

Yes, the last one.

Our club would like to give new designers a platform to feature their products for free, we have a platform near the entrance where they can sell their products without paying rent.
In return will ask them to sponsor some events with products, for the customers to win.
The theme of the contest will be set by the sponsor..

What do you think of this concept?

My personal experience with sponsored events are great.
As I said in a previous thread, money contests somehow doesn't draw the people in anymore. Mostly new people trying to win some L$.

Somehow people love to win goodies. And let's be honest, just like it's more fun to get a small present on your Bday rather than an envelope with money, same principle goes in SL.

The unpacking is the fun :) Organize it well and you have a good chance of having a blasting event.

Btw, I support the idea to let them show products for free. Specially for the new creators with little finances. Not everybody can go out and rent a store for 10L$ a prim a week. (I see insane rates even higher than that on complete empty and new malls)

Creativity should always be supported. Your way is one I also use from time to time and am happy to see more and more people willing to reach out to those starters.
