I hope I'm posting in the right forum, if not pls feel free to move it.

Is there a way to contact people who have posted events but then the events don't happen? Example: A class is announced in the Events, but when potential students get there, there is no instructor, no class. Upon a little investigation, it appears that this happened with other classes offered by the same organization. There is no contact info on the Events list.

Tx!

who ever posted it is usually the one holding it, so contact them, and if they are not the ones running it they can tell you who is suppose to be hosting it...

Hi Spring!

I don't know how to contact them, no contact info on the Event details. Is there another way to find who is responsible for this event.

Usually events that are posted, then you arrive, and it looks like it would have happened if the event host was there... then either the event host has trouble getting inworld, or they aren't committed to responsibilities. For example, classes posted, then they don't happen because the instructor isn't there, and it happens multiple times, then the school is lame. Most reputable schools don't allow their instructors more than two no-shows.
Just keep in mind, sometimes when you TP to a location, the event isn't going to be right in front of you. If you can't find it, IM the host and ask for a TP. If they're not online, they're flaking out.

Now, if it's a scammy event post, such as someone posting a party with live music, and then when you show up, it's just a music stream and you're smack in the middle of stores and junk and there is no party... then you should abuse report em. If they post they're having a contest, and then you participate for two hours, and they just end the event and disappear without the promised rewards, report em.... and make sure to spread the word.

>>classes posted, then they don't happen because the instructor isn't there<<

Yep, that's exactly what happened. A bunch of us showed up, we looked around and hung out for a while, but no prof :(. Oh well, I made a couple of new friends that way LOL!

I guess I was hoping to help others so they would not have the same experience, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do that. I don't really want to report on a single instance that I experienced personally.

Thank you for replying :).

Just a quick comment - not that I'm suggesting you don't, but everyone should check really, really closely the date and time of the event. I haven't noticed if this has always been how search results are displayed, but I had a load of people turn up at my place last night at 3pm - I have an event listed at that time, but it's on Thursday, not Sunday. When I searched my category the results showed this entire week, not that specific day. If I'd been looking for something to do I know wouldn't have noticed the different dates, and apparently nor did the people who showed up :D

Sorry if that's a touch off topic, but just the image of a bunch of people waiting around at an event and wondering where the host is reminded me of that!

When the instructor doesn't show up, just suddenly announce that you are the replacement instructor. It doesn't matter if you don't know how to script particles. Just wing it. Do a Google search for "second life" plus whatever the class is about. Copy and paste a lot.

And if anyone complains that you are not competent to teach the class, blast 'em with push guns. That's what real university professors do.

No, don't do that. That is wrong.
