I'm curious as to anyone's experience using SHOUTcast to host their event. If the event is a discussion or lecture of some sort, which tend of course to be heavy on the host's typing skills, would it not be possible to simply use a microphone and a SHOUTcast stream? I downloaded the SHOUTcast client, it was not difficult to set up or anything, but I haven't really had much time to play with it. Is it a really plausible event aide, to change your event's land's streaming audio to your personal SHOUTcast server? I'm going to try it, but I'd just like to know about anyone else's experiences in the matter and whether or not anyone knows of any special tools friendly to all-voice no-music broadcasting.

I set this up in Preview when the land streams were first shown. I set up Shoutcast and Icecast and streamed my PC mic into a plot of land. Turned out (at least at that time and network load level) there was a several minute delay. If that's not an issue for you, it works well. If you want to stay a bit more current than that, TeamSpeak is the only other option I know of. (And that requires everyone to have it running on their PC.)
