I recently launched a line of products called 'Calendar Cogs' that I think could really help a good number of people and organizations out there. As a little background I created the objects because I saw people were uploading textures and doing other gimmicks to post signs on their land informing others when events were upcoming.
My objects allow you to put what looks like a sign on your land that periodically polls a Google Calendar and will provide that information to visitors.
The other object in the system is a HUD object that allows you to add events to a Google calendar and get a reminder before an event is to take place.
All objects translate events to SL time when they are in world, but can be in whatever time you want on the Google Calendar. The advantage of using Google Calendars is numerous, but includes the fact you can display the calendar on your own website/blog and you can share it with other people.
