Hey, does anyone have tips on how to promote your events?

Here's what I've got for event promotions ideas so far:

Events listing
classified ad
personal invitations
spam the relevant events groups
advertise in an approprate SL magazine ...
Advertise on billboards at popular gathering places

Any other ideas I haven't considered?

Maybe audio promotions during DJ'd events?

Advertising 101:

Always start with the event itself. What is the hook? What does this event have going for it that sets it apart from the other events? What's your theme? What does that say about your target audience? Where is your target audience usually at when they aren't at your event?

Your list above is a great way to spend alot of money on advertising. You can probably narrow it down to the top two methods that will give you the most exposure for your audience for the price. You'll need the money you saved to keep those avatars coming back next time ;)

Okay, I'm hosting a masquerade. I want designers and artists to show up with original costumes for contests. Also, I want an art auction that same night. Again, wanting to bring in original artists to display and auction off their work.

I assume I'd advertise in areas that are more popular with the serious designers, as well as do some 'word of mouth' advertising with folks known for their designs in SL...

Any other suggestions?

A few more details on this project ...

Don't think I was very clear on what I'm doing exactly ...

So... let me try this again:

These are the events I want to promote:

MASQUERADE
Oct. 29th | 7pm - Until (SLT)
Formal masquerade to be held at 'Home of Dark Butterfly, Vixens'. 1000L prizes for best original costume design and 1000L prizes for best couples theme costumes (500L/each)
There will be a DJ playing Halloween tunes and requests and door prizes will be given away throughout the event.

AUTUMN ART ON THE DOCKS
Oct. 29th | 6pm - Until (SLT)
A sidewalk art show displaying original SL art and photography along the autumn/halloween theme. To be held before and during the above mentioned Masquerade.

---------------------------

Now the two issues I'm having:

MASQUERADE: Promotions? ... This is, literally the first event I've master-minded in SL - so in that respect I'm a N00b *lol*. I've made sure to give myself a lot of time to plan. I just want to make sure I do enough advertising in the right places that I get a good response. I have both of these events listed in the events lists - that's a given. I'm sending out personal invitations to friends-list and group members. I'm putting up promo banners at the Night Club in our SIM - where the event will be held. I'm advertising in SecondStyle mag. I've got an ad in the classifieds listing teasing the event and asking for artists for the art show.
I've IM'd a few shop owners who sell costumes/masks to see if they would let me advertise the event at their stores, but haven't heard anything back yet.
Now... Have I missed anything obvious? Is there something out there that I could do, that I haven't thought of? ... Any suggestions?

ART SHOW: Finding artists to participate in the art show. I joined a few 'artists' groups in-world and have found a few artists who are interested by networking there. Still, I'd prefer a variety of styles, so I'd like more than three artists *LOL*

Thanks in advance for any input!!
