Hi all, new to SL and thinking of a group of people in the "outside" internet world. They've been after me for a long time to organize chat sessions.
I like the idea of using SL to hold such chats, but I know some of the members are on lower end computers and probably wouldn't be able to do SL. So I'm wondering if there's any way to hold a chat session in SL, and have it going outside SL as well, such as a web chat or IRC or something.
That way the people who were interested in SL could be there, and those who weren't or didn't have the computer capabilities could still participate, but text only.
Hope this makes sense, and thank you!

Check into quickfox.net http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=237593 http://www.quickfox.net/services/slgateway

I've experimented with this system, and it really does work. Only major issue is that you need to use the quickfox.net IRC network.
There's also "ChatBridge" which I'm not personally familiar with: http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=407263
