This is so simple, why oh why didn't I think of it before? If you want to have great attendance at your event you just need to get a Linden name and use a system message to announce the event! DOH!
This one really annoyed me. Too many people work too damn hard to host events and get good attendance, not to mention use their own money to front the cost for them - and BAM right in the middle of mine tonight is a lovely system message announcing a Linden's personal event.
Hell, why do we even bother?

I just got an apology in-world stating that this was an accident. I accepted the apology, though I did point out it was a really really bad accident, lol. Kudos for the quick response.

Fundamentally, it's a "poaching" incident. If a player pings my Elbow Room group to pull other members to another gathering place or event I consider it "poaching" and eject them from the group. Even when a player claims they messaged the wrong group or did so accidentally it's still an ejectable offense. That a Linden poached on a global scale does little to dispell the never-ending rumors of the Feted Inner Core, those players that always seem to have a Linden on their side and involved with or greenlighting their projects and events.
To have a Linden come to socialize at one's own event is always a very special honor and they are always wonderful guests. But when they compete directly against a distinct player profession (DJs), are billed as the main entertainment attraction at another gathering place, and then announce the start of their set via a blue dialogue box broadcast to the entire player base in-world at the time then it creates a lot of ill will, hurt feelings, and gnashing of teeth. Shaun could've simply created an Alt to play in-world and DJ instead of using Linden status and being the "dancing bear" for an evening's entertainment.
