Hi guys, as the first issue is approaching i'm wondering which is the best way in promoting a new magazine.

First issue is not a problem, cause we will have some great parties, but i'm thinking.. what is the best way to promote it when i will not have a big party to advertise?
Do you think it will get better promotion on the forums or directly in-world?

I think you should continue to hold events to promote it not just a first issue party and get copies into popular stores.A website may be a good idea too as many may find an in world magazine slow to rez and it may be easier to go to the website sometimes instead.

As soon as you find a standard template for any advertising.. share it with me, we will publish a book on it, and give up work for the rest of our lives because we will be richer than Bill Gates...

Advertising is a 'Black Art'... some say Bad advertising is better than none.

I have 4 companies in SL... perhaps we can chat about you running a feature/advertising on our group, and we cross advertise your magazine on our website, which attracts 260,000++ visitors a month?

I second with the web site. It is your number 1 advertising tool. Add a mailing list to your site so visitors can sign up. Keep your site professional, though. A bad looking site will chase perspective buyers away.

I would advertise as much online as in game. If your magazine deals with SL or properties from the game, I would focus more heavily there. Also how your magazine will be distributed will be a big factor on advertising. Remember that if you are advertising off game and expect people to join to get or access your magazine, you will need to explain to non-players how to join. That could also limit your perspective advertising range. Make a list and look it over of what you have, what you'd like, and where you can get it before you start. A good plan ahead of time will save hours of useless work latter.

When is your first issue expected to be released? I am in the process of building a 'bookstore' in SL that is liked with my RL site (and future bookstore). I may be able to offer advertising in my SL store.
