Hey all, I am looking for a team that is intrested in reaping the rewards of taking a mega popular real life game and importing it into SL. To say the least its a big project. With at least 6 or more factions with distinctive looks and then each faction has anywhere from 6 to 20 different types of units + vehicles and weapons. I am looking for Modelers, Builders, Scripters, animators, as I said this is a huge game in real life, and I can see games of 30 people in SL fighting each other in a sim. Eventually We will need testers, and will have to build terrain for the environment.
So if interested send me e-mail or let me know in game. or here. thanks... Gable

That would kick a$$ Gimme mah Genestealer and Tyranid army any time Hmm Hive Tyrants would be a real b*tch to model! I think someone already has some WH Space Marines modeled in SL actually... ask around! I think the combat rules would be relatively simple to script... you'd have to build something like the backpacks in DarkLife to carry stats and interact with other units I would guess. useful link here: http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/default.htm Anybody out there played WarZone? Similar game, a lot of neat unit models... http://www.newwave.org/minis/excelsior/warzone/index.html

From: Frans Charming Yea, and then it is big succes and then you will be sued because you have Infringed trademarks and violated copyrights. GW allows fans to create derivative works. However, there are specific rules you must follow. Perhaps most importantly, it can't be a commercial venture.. ie: no selling, no profiting, no advertising. Read the actual rules here: http://uk.games-workshop.com/legal/canandcant/This one is interesting: "Any game or mod must be a "total conversion." In other words, you must not use our intellectual property (logos, images, names etc.) in relation to the worlds, names, logos, or images of any other company. For example, you cannot place our Space Marines in a Disney total conversion using the Unreal engine, but you could make a TC solely using Space Marines with the Unreal engine. This is, of course, assuming that you have permission to use the Unreal engine." I'm not sure what that means for your project. There's no way to do an SL "total conversion", but I suspect they'd wave that requirement due to the nature of SL.

I wish you luck Gable.
My advice to anyone with a big project like this: Create a miniature version of the game, and get it working (even if incomplete) as soon as possible. Otherwise you may get bogged down in minutia before anyone has had a chance to play it, and it can be discouraging.

you didnt mention if this would be like a full size PVP game or a SL re-creation of the RL WH40k board game?

would this be scripted, or just miniatures (like real life...)
I'd be willing to learn how to play if it was implimented into secondlife, I have some friends who are die hard fans of warhammer.
