I'm aware this forum here is for posting events. But what I need is something event planners have to deal with or have dealt with more or less and that's downloading music.
I have a Jukebox in sl and I need to make a songlist to add to it. But I was told I need to download MP3 songs. Now, I don't really know anything about this or MP3's for that matter. And I'm not really getting any help from the person who sold it to me other then bits and pieces of information. Had I known this I never would of gotten these Jukeboxes as I now have them turned off. I thought this would be a good place to ask.
So I would like some information if it's possible.
1. Are the songs in Livewire considered MP3's? This place has free downloads.
2. Do you know or recommend a good place to get and download Mp3's? Some place preferrable with free songs.
I'll appreaciate any and all information anyone can provide for me.
Thank You

1) Downloading MP3s for free is illegal, you have to buy em. ) 2) to buy em, you can goto such places as the Itunes store, and other websites online. 3) you can take the CDs you currently own, pop em in your CD drive, "rip" em (taking the music from an audio cd and putting them onto your computer in MP3 format) 4) Make sure your "jukebox" isn't a internet station tuner. If it's a station tuner, what that does is lets you tune your land into any stations you choose.. rather than picking the music yourself.

Like I had said, I don't know much about this, actually I don't know anything. I'm learning as I go along and it sucks when you don't know as you then have to depend on others for help.
The Jukeboxes I have are not radios. They currently hold 400 songs and those songs can be changed to whatever songs I want. Unfortunately, about 390 of the songs there I don't like since they aren't the type of music I listen to, so I need to change them.
But what about LimeWire? I made a mistake and wrote Livewire. Is the music in LimeWire MP3?
BTW, thanks for the info.

It's no problem not knowing something and someone else helps you out... that's what the whole SL community is about. We all help eachother in different ways.
Limewire is a P2P... P2P means peer to peer sharing program. Basically someone else that also has limewire is making their files and music on their computer available to copy. This is illegal to share music. I'm not going to advise you whether or not you should get your music this way...

A couple like Limewire are Morpheus and Kazaa (I think). Like was mentioned above, doing it like this is illegal, but I know so many people that do it on a daily basis and don't get caught...however I have read of people getting in trouble, so IDK.

Just because everyone's doing it and not getting caught doesn't make it right. I'm quite sure you won't get caught (most people that get caught are people with gigs and gigs of music and they are actively sharing it. Individuals grabbing some songs here and there aren't who they're after).... but it comes down to your moral and ethical beliefs. If you are okay with stealing music instead of paying for it, then go for it.
Some people feel they are not doing anything wrong downloading music for free. Some people think it's horrible and hate to see that so many people do it and find it okay. It's up to you to decide.
My personal thoughts on it (which I was trying to avoid): I am a music producer and composer. I'd like to make money on my music.... however, I'd prefer people to have my music if they aren't willing to pay for it. I'd rather 100,000 have my music and 100 people bought my music than 100 people have my music and 100 people bought my music. I'm on both sides of the fence with this issue.... I hate record labels, I hate the RIAA.... however I feel musicians should get money for their music..... so I can't pick a side on this but I wish I could.... but the fact of the matter is that perhaps music and sound of the future isn't worth as much as what people have charged for it in the past. If there is a work of art that can be copied and shared and multiplied, it's going to be impossible to stop people doing it. The future of music is that music file sharing is going to continue for eternity. My words of wisdom in conclusion is that every time you download a song and like it and keep it, the artist didn't get the money for that they were entitled to, so make an effort to buy music... at the same time, when you download music for free, and play it, and expose it to other people and those people like it and expose it to more people, perhaps that is more valuable to the artist.
I have downloaded plenty of music, and I have bought plenty of music.. and I feel okay with myself. ... so it just comes down to if you feel okay with it
