I want to set up an Internet radio station to play music I wrote and produced, so I can play it in SL. Since it's my music, I think I won't have to pay any license fees, so this should be simple, right. Can someone point me to a good information resource for setting up your own station?

I know it's possible, I've been to some events where they were doing just that. I think you have to find a host your stream. I do remember someone offereing the service within Second Life, I think it was Jamie Otis, yep it's Jamie Otis, I just checked in world. Just IM him and from what I remembered, he has reasonable fees. _____________________
the truth is overrated ![]() The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better? ![]() |

If you're interested in performing live, I'd advise getting it touch with Astrin Few or Singer Tyne - they both do live performances in SL, and can probably advise you on how to get started.

There are two parts to it - broadcasting from your PC to a server, and from the server to SL.
You can broadcast from your PC using a plugin for winamp - or using commercial software such as Spatial Audio's SAM. You'll need to pay for the use of a server using shoutcast or icecast. There are many providers out there - Jamie Otis and someone else (Aaron Levy?) allow you to pay in lindens - obviously outside SL you pay in hard currency... Live 365 has a bad reputation for SL. Searching on the forums may be helpful. _____________________
