The eternal 2L question -- now I'm here, what do I do? One possible answer: something like geocaching. Most events offered these days are not so interesting to me, but the one certain, never-fail thing of interest is: wandering around the map discovering all the weird & wonderful things people have built. Geocaching is a 1L activity whose appeal is largely the same: it gives people an excuse to go explore the landscape around them, in an attentive & mindful way. Every 2L user has the equivalent of a GPS built in; your map coordinates to the meter are right there all the time. What's missing (and totally beyond my knowledge) is how to build a cache-box, and the essential visitor-logbook that it should contain. It should be possible to change the exterior look of the cache (that's an important way to "hide" something in the relatively smooth terrain of 2L). It should be possible to put things into the cache-box and to take things out -- in geocaching, if you take something, you are supposed to leave something. Critically, it must be possible to add your name & the date to the log-book, maybe leave a comment, and read the prior entries. Then all that's needed is a forum thread where property owners publicize their caches; any property owner who wants to encourage visitors would want to place one or more. An extension would be if somebody wanted to make a treasure hunt, a connected series of caches in which each contains a more or less cryptic clue to the location of the next one in the chain. Or two clues, to the cache ahead and the one behind, so the chain could be run in either direction. But it all depends on that cache-box object or script that does all the above & is easy to use.

This was done within the past 2 weeks, I believe. Try talking to Cutter Rubio about his experience with something very similar to this.

"1L and 2L" are abbreviations used by some for "First Life and Second Life"

My kids are into RL geo-caching, big time! In fact, they are making several geo-caching stops during their spring break trip.

Sloog?

Looks to me as if Sloog does much the same thing. Tagging with key words. http://www.sloog.org/Hud available at Mosi Mosi sim or at Hobo Railroad Infohub in Calleta. Tagging is a general web method. Sloog tags are exposed to Goolgle search. You get your own page, use it like your land marks, and give yor whole list to people with one link.
