Price is Right in SL!

I have the day off work today (yay!) and since SL is down, I sit photoshopping and watching TV. As I'm channel surfing, I stop on The Price is Right and it hits me...it would be a blast to play in SL!

The games would take some scripting, but I don't think it would be too terribly difficult. I think the hardest part would be getting donations from vendors to get a good mix of products.

Whatcha think peeps? Would you play? Would you donate goods and/or money? Would you want to build some games? Would you want to host? Would you want to be one of Princess' beauties?

I used to watch that on a saturday night with my parents, good old Leslie Crowther (for the UK anyways), I think game would ROCK in SL, and I think it would be fairly easy to set up wouldn't it??

Whee! I'm so glad there is some interest in this! I'm currently working on picking some games that won't be too difficult to script (since I suck at scripting ) and trying to lay out the basics of the game. I'm going to start poking designers and builders sometime in the next week or so for prizes; if you know anyone who might want to donate, please give them my name and have them contact me...I'm looking for content of all kinds!

CBS' website has a listing of the games on the show, please check it out and post here if there are any games you would *really* like to see. And yes, Plinko is a given.

I have to finish up a few projects before I can really dive into planning this, so it will probably be a month or so before it happens...but it's coming!

I don't know who made it, but I remember playing Plinko just a few weeks ago in sl. Maybe it will show up in a search of places?

I've played Dave Zeeman's Plinko game before, maybe that's the one you played as well, Alan? Either way, Dave's works great (and is oh-so addicting), I'm gonna poke him soon and see if he could tweak the code for me (it's a casino game now, I believe). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll do it....

I'll have to check it out, it sounds like fun.

I did a Price Is Right event about a year and a half ago where I had cards with RL objects on it and players had to guess the price without going over. Problem was, one contestant was googling all the items on his laptop while the game was going on and winning every time.

I'm not sure how you would get around that, but it is something you should think about...

Hopefully, I'll get enough donations to use only SL products, so that should solve most of the internet look-up problem (except for the SL shopping sites, and I'm still trying to figure that one out). I've already got 3 or 4 people committed to giving goods and money, so I think it's gonna work out.

Just a little update....I'm researching copyrights and trademarks right now to find out what I can and can't use. So far, I know I need a new name for the game(I should have known that in the first place!), so if you think of any suggestions, please pass them my way. I was thinking something simple, like "Name that Price" or something, but it seems a little boring to me.

Also, more donations are coming in, but more are still needed! Every item I receive will be given away in during the game; you will also get a small advertising promo during the show highlighting the item(s) you donated and your business (and hopefully a LM board for all donors). Let me also make it clear that I will be making absolutely nothing from this game, any money I happen to make will be turned around back into the game. If you would like to donate goods or money, please contact me via IM or PM.

Just wanted to give everyone an update.....and it's not a good one.

Shit has hit the fan in rl, and I don't have the energy to put this all together right now. Thanks to everyone who offered help and donations! I hope to eventually bring the idea back, so I may poke you all again this summer.

sorry to hear that Princess. But by summer I will definately have my fine art gallery open and will be happy to donate a painting (all orginals done by myself so no copy right issues there).
