I just updated to 1.8 but cannot log in as the grid is still closed for the upgrade.

In looking at the release notes, there was quite a bit about P2P but nothing about sim capacity. I had read previousy that in 1.8, sims would support 100 avs instead of the current limit of 40 avs.

I plan large-scale events and have been renting adjoining double or triple sims to accommodate large numbers of guests; it would be good to know what the capacity is in 1.8 for future event planning.

The 40 av limit was done away with in 1.7, as far as I know. I don't know anything about a limit of 100 though. If I remember right, the stress test in the preview had something like 120+ in a single sim and it worked fine. The 1.7 release notes are little vague on the subject, but they do make it clear that the old limit is gone. Here's the relevant portion:

I would say it's not suprising that the 1.8 release notes don't say anything about sim capacity, since that's not anythng that actually changed in 1.8. They only list what's new. If you scroll down though, the 1.7 notes should still be there.

In 1.7 there was still a 40 av limit unless you owned an island where you could sit limits yourself.

So basically if you want to really compete with the top places plan now to get an island otherwise will be diffiuclt to impossible to do. Unless of course this changes in time.
Since I am here, to those that don't know I have sold off Pink Rose Mall/Club. Due to time and money I just couldn't do it anymore right now. I want to thank everyone who ever visited Razor and I at PInk Rose. It will be missed by me and all the good times. but hey make sure you invite us to all your awesome events.

SP is correct; I don't know what the old notes said but there certainly seemed to be a limit of X for a non-island sim; more than that and you'd get the "Cannot enter because server is full" message. I still need to know if this has changed in 1.8 or not. I don't much care either way, I just need to know a value for the current X for planning

I guess if there isnt' sa documented official answer to this question, I'll Hotline to Linden it tomorrow. Cheers!
