Scheduling Events with Landmarks

In the Events Work Group today I made a suggestion to help specify or limit event posting locations. The idea is to use landmarks to help create the list of where you can post events.

Robin Linden said they are looking at a temporary fix where you can post events:
a) on your own land
b) on land deeded to a group of which you are a member
c) on land owned by friends who have granted friends event posting access, where that land is also listed in the Find Places directory.

The Find Places restriction in (c) was to limit the number of places in the menu on the event posting web page. Apparently given the average number of friends, there would be over 150 places in the list for most people. So the extra restriction would just limit the number of places in the list to make it tractable.

As part of the long-term overhaul, I suggest creating a list in the UI somewhere - it could be a special folder in the Inventory, or a tab on an av's profile, or a separate window entirely. The list would comprise landmarks, and any landmark included in that list would be shown on the event posting location menu, as long as you had access to post at that location.

There are several advantages to this approach:

1) It is currently difficult to manage posting events on a large parcel. I keep having to change my sim's landing spot from one side of the island to the other depending on where I want to locate the event. If I could select from a list of landmarks with multiple landmarks from all over my sim, that stops being a problem.

2) I don't much care about posting at Linden public event locations. Put a list of Public Event Locations in the inventory Library, and people who want to post there can add them to the event landmark list. Or start the list with those landmarks included, and let use remove and resrore them as we wish. That way I won't have to hunt through the growing (I hope) list of public event locations to find my locations.

3) I can give a landmark to someone who I want to allow to host events on my land. Ideally this should be coupled an explicit permission on the friends list to allow event hosting, just like we can grant permission to modify our objects.

Now, Robin also said that at some point in the future the parcel event posting limit would be going away, probably when they put in filtering to the event window. She did not say whether the limits on where you could post events would go away though, so using an event landmark list may or may not be useful after the overhaul. Just a caveat.
