Interesting.. do items stay rezed in water? I never bothered to test it. I figured it gets returned to my lost and found folder. If they don't return then I got some major cleaning to do. *The warter sims that are not owned I mean.

LOL....that is the key

Finding WATER plots that dont return items....or have long auto return settings....On our first hunt we had about half of the treasure hidden underwater and half above. Made for an interesting mix and lots of fun. Adding scuba gear is also a cool touch!

Oso,
I don't know how the hunting works, but if you are looking for water plots ... you could consider Cosy Home and Cosy Cove. Let me know!

The hunting isnt like most other hunts I have attended in SL. Most are just the kind where you show up at a particular sim and just look for the items.
These are all clue based hunts....We meet at one sim and everyone gets an "info sheet" on the hunt we are doing that evening. Just the basics like how many treasure are hidden etc. Then, at the start of game, clues are sent out every X number of minutes via our group IM. The goal is first to find the sim or sims that the treasures are located. Then once you think you are there, to look closer for the items.
The clues are vague at first and get more detailed as the event goes on. Everyone is advised to use every resource they can think of....from the "FIND" button to the MAP that marks events and classified ads....Anything to figure it out.
Last night we had hunters ALL OVER SL, in different sims, thinking they were on to something and then......A more detailed clue came out and they were TPing to the next location.
Feedback was great and comments like "I actually had to use my brain" were heard a few times!

This is one of those few good events that *should* be announced by the Lindens like old times.

After my misadventures with the tulip releases, I'd say you are very brave and organised to pull off such a detailed treasure hunt. The tulips nearly drove me to madness. I'm sure your treasure hunt is wonderful - any underwater images or such to share?

Treasure Hunting photos coming soon....

Desmond- I followed the "tulip madness" with great interest as "collectible" items in SL is a very interesting thought to explore. Ive also read both threads on the topic.
If you check the "treasure" related threads you will see that I also have a post with the title "Any offers for "original" found treasure?"....I have created some original treasure hunt items such as coins, medallions, etc. (much like the tulips) and thought it would be fun to see if some "collectors" would be willing to bid for or offer a bounty for these items. And yes I have seen the posts about "guaranteed originality" and STILL wish to press on (lol).
I would not profit from the process however I think creating a tradable market for such items would be very appealing to all treasure hunters. "I have a bid from a collector and he is offering L$500 for the missing ______" sounds more exciting than a set value.
The hunt items i have now are actually a collection of items Ive named the "Silver Godess" collection (See above named post for more details). In short its a 27 piece set so I can see a collector actually bid for pieces, the entire collection, etc. Then as more hunts follow, more "original" pieces (coins of different sizes, quality, texture) would be created and so on and so on...
Although tulips and treasure hunt artifacts in SL are easily produced, I think that in the spirit of the game, these type of markets are very fun and exciting!!
what do you guys think????

From: Melina Loonie I don't know how the hunting works, but if you are looking for water plots ... you could consider Cosy Home and Cosy Cove. Let me know! Yes Mel! Let's suggest great places for those hunts or let them use a sim for hunting. That way Oso and his group can offer a good variety! Dragon Moon sim is all yours for a hunt, Oso. Underwater world, jungle, beaches, a cave, a mountain...get the teasures in!

Pirate Treasure Hunt in Rua
03-01-2006 15:08
I built a pirate treasure hunt in Rua. It is set amoung the beautiful underwater reefs and aboveground fantasy mountains created by the Cave Girls there in Rua. The hunt is both above ground and below the water level in the reefs and grotto's of Rua. The hunt starts at 3 different treasure chests placed in easy to find locations along the shoreline. From there you get clues and coordinates to find the next clue. Various bits of pirate treasure and freebies can be found along the way, with a large free treasure chest full of pirate booty at the end.

Next week Hollywood sim (already 75% water) will become three sims with over 80% water. Let me know if you would like to use Hollywood for your hunts.
