I may not be the first person to think of this, but it just occured to me and would be a great improvement over the current use of typed chat only at eductional events.

Stream your voice like a DJ does when you give instructions and present. That will make it lots easier for the presenter to share more information then typing everything. You could still type specific information that you want people to be able to reference in chat and/or make copies of after the training session.

Just a suggestion.

Hey there

Actually, I've been looking at this possibility also - if you check out my "One World Cafe" post, I'd like to give live poetry readings along with live music events and possibly live book readings. It makes a lot of sense to me to share in events this way also, just as DJs do in some of the clubs.

I'm not sure exactly what's needed for such a thing - I think one would have to have access to a server...It's something I'll be looking into and any suggestions on how to get this accomplished are always appreciated. I'm more than happy to network with folks on this.

There's one catch, though. I found it that when I stream music, there's a delay of about 20-30 seconds. It's somewhat okay for music, but definately not too good for other uses.

I don't know if others have experienced the same... I use Winamp/oddsock on the client, icecast2 on the server. All are free software.

As far as I know, and I could certainly be wrong, there is no workaround to achieve zero delay.
And from my experience people listening IN SL have slightly less of a delay than if they are tuned in from an "outsisde" player such as Winamp, iTunes, WMV, etc. However the overall sound quality when listening IN SL is lacking a little though, but for educational purposes I don't see that as too much of a concern.
I am not much of a technical person, only speaking from personal exp., but I think it may have to do with each individuals connection, bandwitdh, system, etc.
Good idea though that I think can be made useful! Depends too on whether the people are visual or auditory learners. Even being a DJ myself, when it comes to learning I need to SEE things in writing in order to absorb appropriately.
