Hi there,

is it possible to stream a skype conversation over shoutcast into Second Life?
I want to stream skype conversations directly into Second Life for e.g. a conference in SL.

Specs:
WindowsXP
SHOUTcast Server - Version 1.9.7

Thanks in advance

hmmm on my PC if I use winamp and shoutcast and set my record options to master it will stream every sound my PC makes, including skype conversations.

Dunno of any other way that it could be done, someone might have a better solution than I do

Keep in mind with my suggestion that it may depend on your soundcard if it works or not, all I know is it works for me heh

and also keep in mind, if it works it will stream ALL sounds including msn chimes email notices windows error chimes SL sounds ETC

Yes. Set your shoutcast to stream everything coming out of the soundcard (as mentioned in the post above.).... Check out a RadioRadio show. They usually have callers during their stream show. Also Phillip Linden does this for his town meetings.

Also, regarding more about the post above.... set your windows sound scheme to 'no sound' ... and set your SL audio to 'mute' .... set any other dings and dongs to 'no dings & dongs'

Good advice from Doubledown.

One or two other things to remember, if you are hosting the shoutcast server directly from your computer you would need to make sure your firewall allows listeners to connect to the shoutcast servers port and the number of listeners that will be able to connect will depend on your internet's upload speed, if you are planning to host the chat to large audience might want to look at broadcasting to a shoutcast relay service rather than hosting the server on your computer.

As Jamie said above... you're going to need a rented stream (you're not going to be able to make your own computer your server stream.

I highly recommend Jamie for renting a stream. He has all the info available on the logistics and how to set it up at his shop.
