Idea Regarding Being able to charge entrance fees to various account levels

I'd love to be able to have an event, and only charge the unverified users. I think it'd be great to have a party where the paid subscribers are free, and there's a cover charge for the unverified.

I doubt this will work as unverifieds tend to have no money and thus can't afford any cover fee.

Nevertheless, I suppose you could do something like limit your parcel to verifieds only, and when the LSL functions that get account status come up... make an object that, when touched, checks the account status of the toucher. If they're verified, it uses llAddToLandPassList on them. If they're not, it demands payment to do the same.

You might have to have two objects to do this, one to take payment and one inside the parcel that's restricted, but I think it could be done.

This does rely on the "pass list" being able to override the non-verified restriction, though.

That would really have to be based on either having a free account or having payment on file. I have a free acct as I do my renting from another source in game and don't need the privilidge of owning land. However, I have payment info on file. So when looking at my profile it reads "payment info on file" but also says its a basic acct.

basics can be verified - all before 6/6/06 did have such info

Ah yes but I was premium and went to free after my premium ran out. So my acct says FREE, not Basic on it but the payment info is on file. I'm thinking there may be a few more combinations. Basically the payment on file info says "we can find you!". If you go by it being a free acct or a paid one you will also be weeding out people like myself who actually do have land and pay tiers, just not through SL.

I very much like the idea of simply having an option that is 'All unverified accounts must pay $x to enter this parcil' I dont really care if the unverifieds dont have money.

Ok... why not just ban all unverifieds from your land, then?

Because he may be seeing a way to hopefully filter out the unverifieds who are here to add to the system, and those who aren't?

If you don't care if unverifieds can meet your requirement for money or not, you probably don't care if they can access your site at all... so why not just ban them?

Oh and I tested this - paying money for a pass does *not* allow you to override the "payment info on file" requirement. I wish it did though. I'd like to use something similar on my land - say, unverifieds have to pay 10L to gain entry, or be invited by a member. That'd stop some alt-griefing, for sure.

My idea is to charge something like $10L to unverifieds.... because they must be frugal, by them paying, they are making a choice to enter and partake. I doubt a griefer alt would pay to get in. ...what Jonas said...
