Thank you for everyone who had attended and contributed to our Art & Dance Festival at Taean this past Sunday, December 3rd. It was considered as a very suceesful event and we had gone over our original donation goal of L$75,000 by a large margin.
I would love to hear some feedback from everyone. All suggestions review and comments are welcome.

Due to popular demand, all of our Good Samaritan Group officers and I have decided to keep all art and exhibits the way they are and extend the festival for another week to December 10th.
We understand that there are many people who were not able to enter our extremely busy sim this past Sunday between 3:30 PM to 5:00PM.

Location: Taean (159, 221, 77) PG Land
Or just look under my profile for "Picks" for easy teleport since Event History on the site are no longer available as our friend Argus Collingwood mentioned before in previous post.

Special Thank You goes out to:
Spike Linden for the sim rescue on Sunday during the critical time.
Thank you Spike :)
Matrix Hull for the prim creation rescue. Thank you Matrix.
Farrokh Vavoom, Harpo Luxor and Cherub Spectre for being the super generous donors to our donations barometer. Thank you guys.
Ashley Bainbridge and Mephistopheles Thalheimer for the extra holding areas in neighboring sims.
T1 Radio DJ Nuala Maracas and Trader1 Whiplash
for the great vibe at the dance party.

I would love to hear some feedback from everyone. All suggestions, reviews and comments are welcome.

Pictures from this event will be ready by early next week.

Good Samaritans Party
12-06-2006 19:45
One might think that a party thrown by Good Samaritans might be filled with a bunch of goody-2-shoes saying "So sorry!" and "Oops, my fault!" -- and that might be true of these guys, but I had loads of fun dancing and wandering around the expansive grounds. Three cheers for the Good Samaritans! And I look forward to seeing many more of these events.

I am always impressed by the good nature of many SL residents. I hope that the many resident who were unable to enter the sim make their way back to see the all the great displays and learn more about organization in SL.

Doing any sort of event is tough, and a charity one has to be the most involved. A big thanks to all who helped to organize the event. Here's hoping there are more to come in the future and that perhaps others have been inspired to hold similar events.

Best event I've attended in SL.
12-07-2006 08:48
The event that was held by The Good Samaritian Group was the best event I have attended on SL. I did not know what to think about a party being held by a group of Good Samaritian's, but once I arrived, it was more than I could have ever expected. It was fun, educational, inspirational, and full of great people to mingle with. I can't wait until the next event.

Let's do it again
12-07-2006 08:51
Hey Johnny,

Thanks for the great event! I met a lot great people there and saw a lot of wonderful things. It's too bad about the lag thing but one day we will all be in Server Heaven. We'll have to settle for Purgatory but we are on the right track and heading in the right direction. Glad that the event remained open a week longer.

That was an amazing event -- what a great combination of art, information, networking, partying..all the stuff SL is supposed to be about.

Art and Donations -- A Common Alliance
12-07-2006 09:53
Many, many times, art has been in alliance with donations. Ever notice how many raffle events have had artwork as it's major prize?
Good art always makes people want to buy.
The succes of this event financially, just goes to prove how good the attending artists were.
Artists as talented as Dana Surya, John Paul Perway and Arcadia Ceres, not to mention Sun Thunders, show us all how much we can accomplish in this virtual world of ours.
What a wonderful world it is!
Much credit should be given to Johnny Austin for his tireless effort in organizing this event.
Having previously organized events myself, I can only say that Johnny did a fabulous job.
If you haven't been to this exhibit, I suggest you stop what you are doing and go see it.
Definitely worth the experience.
Now about that lag problems.... will they EVER get fixed?

I've been to several events in SL and I have to say this one had more to offer than most.

There was something there for just about everyone. I learned about some services and products I hadn't know about before, and the artwork was top-notch.

The only negative was the lag. But that's to be expected in any large gathering right now.

Above all though, Johnny was a very gracious host. I heard several people asking him about hosting their own events. I think if you need to put together an event in world, then Johnny is your man!

Well done.

Hey Johnny,

Thanks for the wonderful event! Argus and I had a blast and we are looking forward to the next one. This is a great way to bring the SL community together and share ideas, art, fashion, services and products. Loved the format and the dance party was a great time had by all. The Good Samaritan Festival
12-07-2006 11:26
I had a nice time seeing different for profit, as well as non profit organizations within second life. I really enjoyed meeting the different business owners. The party afterward was a blast, it was THE place to be in second life that night. Thanks for hosting this, and I look forward to the next one. It would be nice to have it twice a year.

12-07-2006 11:48
The organizers of this event have given us a way to share our passion for art . Johnny this was an unforgettable experience. It's a chance to test yourself, share the experience with friends and colleagues as well as do something amazing for others.

The event was well attended, lots of fun and was a great time for everyone even thru lag.
A special thanks to all who have contributed to The Good Samaritian Group and all the nonprofit groups.

Special thanks to Johhny and the officers for a well organized, well advertised and well executed event.

Awesome Event!
12-07-2006 11:48
Johnny...hats off to you!

Despite the lag and entry issues, the art festival was a smash hit! The contributors were extremely talented and I was once again amazed by the creative works that abound in SL! Also, your vast array of non-profit and forprofit vendors were both professional and diverse. Finally, the dance party and DJ combo was better than any night club I've visited to date.

You might have started something here...so get your rest!!!

Wonderful!!
12-07-2006 12:12
I came to this event as working for Red Eye Modeling. I arrived earlier so I could look at the exhibits and they were wonderful. Beatiful art and educational as well. I think its wonderful that people have taken advantage of this "game" in this manner to express themselves and I am so please to be part of this. What started out as a "job" for me turned out to be a fun and wonderful time.!!

Thank you Good Sam and all involved!!

Amazing work
12-07-2006 13:27
Thanks to all participants. I was astonished that there was so much to be seen.
Although it was nice that so many people were visiting, the resulting lag made me log out.

I'm so glad that I can revisit the expo until the 10th.

Keep up the great effort!

A Wonderful Day...
12-07-2006 15:59
It was such a pleasure and great honor to be a part of the festival. I was humbled to be invited and welcomed to the event in the first place; to be treated so well before and during the event left me smiling. The organizers of the festival, especially Johnny Austin, elevated the standard for leveraging the power of SL to bring people together, celebrate art and music, and strengthen community. I made new friends and deepened connections with old friends, both of whom had an opportunity to see my artwork.

Thank you to all who made this event a reality, and I look forward to the future among the Good Samaritans...

It was an honor to participate in such a wonderful event. Besides the very interesting displays, I got to meet some wonderful people which always make such a event worthwhile. Sadly, the lag crashed me so I didn't get to enjoy as much of it as I had intended but I am looking forward to the next one anyway. Many thanks to Johnny and all the Good Samaritan staff who worked so hard to make the event a success.

Great event
12-07-2006 16:28
I had a fun time setting up for the event. I was impressed by how many people actually showed up. The sim was full and a Linden had to come and increase the number of permitted people there. Thanks for the invite. I can't wait until the next one. You were all great to me.

Hello,

HandyLand FairyMeadow from TechSoup.org here.

I have to say that Johnny was very helpful and patient helping us get set-up in the 11th hour. I had a great time getting to know folks the short time I was involved. Also, I think this is the start of a great collaboration.

Thanks again!

Thanks to all.

Hello everyone,

A big thank you to everyone who came to our event! My biggest fear while putting together the art exhibit was that after all this work, maybe no one would come.
-WOW-!
What a wonderful shock it was to log in a half hour before the event was to begin and discover the sim was already packed. I was just stunned! Talking to everyone was wonderful and before i knew it, it was 2 am. :)
A special thanks goes out to the artists who participated and to Shay Ellison for her generous donation of the land next to gallery to expand out the art displays.

To Johnny Austin and Reann Rasikas for their amazing hard work on the events, I offer my most heartfelt love and respect, without them I could never have gotten my part done, their support kept me going.
