I got hooked on SL quickly once I found a number of great places to hear music and keep SL in the background while at work. My 3 faves in this order are Techno/Jazz/Raggae.
I'm curious if any polls have been done on what people like to hear in SL? I've found a ton stuff that brought me back to old times, like Psych Trance, Drum n Bass, etc.. and wonder what people like to hear!
It's also because I started a radio station and am playing all sorts of stuff at different times, depending on who wants what. I've left it to the listeners to decide what they hear. (I'm not promoting anything here just wondering what everyone wants)

I'm very Picky about musicians, there's one in SL that I became fan: JaggPro McCann he's an australian folk singer. Very good original songs. And very good also making covers. Just guitar voice and harmonica. He plays every friday 7PM (i think) at Isle Of Mists, check it out.

LIVE MUSIC IN SL ROCKS.
There are so many excellent performers that I can't possibly name them all, but some of my favorites are Cylindrian Rutabaga, Komuso Tokugawa, and the folk duo Pillowfish, among others.

(YAY Phoenix! ) Hi Davin, If you are looking for specific types of music, you can search the events listings, obviously, but you can also search for groups to join that send out notices on particular types of music. In SL, accoustic type music seems to be highly popular, but I'm pretty sure that is also due to the nature of the platform. It's easier for one person and a guitar to stream into SL than for a whole band. Having said that, there are some excellent collabs going on, and of course bands active in SL. I doubt there have every been any polls on musical preferences btw, because they will likely be as varied as SL's population. Enjoy the music!

Thanks every1.. I did find and join a DJ/Turntablist group, and get notices several times each day about live DJ's.. That's what I love, I can hear a bavarian raggae DJ then jump over to Kromatic for some hot Japanese minimal tech sessions, then over to Pirahna for cray psychadelic trance, and back over to Tricky for some good house music.. I've only been invited to a few live acoustic performances, mostly Shamanes, which always seem to have a good following.
I wish there were a section on the forums for music/music related questions.. It was fun searching google when I set up my streaming server and stuff on the Mac. I'll have to try more events searching inworld, since I usually just check the website for those.. but they of course are innedated with $1 items, marry-me poseballs, yardsales, sailing sims, and other random madness.

Hi again, Inworld search is your friend! Search, events, choose live music in the drop-down menu. The website events search is close to useless at the moment and will also not show events that are marked as "mature". If you have more specific music or technical questions you may want to check in at http://slmc.myfastforum.org/index.php. It's the SL music community's forum. Have fun
