Does anyone know if a Shoe Show has ever been done? Like the Hair Fair, only for shoes? If it has, has it been recently, or do you think we can offer to have this again?

I have access to a large convention center where I would like to host unusual events like this, for items that are in competition with one another, and I'm looking for ideas.

Tech, weapons, and various ways to basically grief are not what i'm seeking... I would love to host a special Sculptie Competition or even a costume preview of the coming Halloween season. We have room to house some really large builds as a part of this.

What would you rather see in terms of a convention dear readers:

Shoes (specifically ones made this year)
Sculpted Jewelry
Costumes for Halloween/related builds
Pet Shows (strictly animals) specific to species like an equine section, canine, etc
Airplanes
Nostaligia/memorabelia/antiques decor (think like the antiques roadshow)

If you have any other ideas that you would like to see happen on a grand scale, that are rich in content, entertaining, or just unique I would loooove to hear them

Forget a shoe show for men. The shoes in sl for men are the worse of just about any clothing item made.

They're either as big as clown shoes or very, very tiny. Even if able to modify them, they still for the most part look terrible. If not when you wear shoes, it looks as the right shoe should go on the left foot the left shoe on the right. As they're both facing the wrong way.

Women have lots more and much better shoes as well as other clothing. But for us men, forget it.

I think there are some great shoes out there for men if you know where to look. Hence why a shoe show would be so great, no looking, just come hang out at one sim for a little while. Women's on the left, men's on the right, or something...Jeeper's Creepers rock for men, have you seen those?
Any other ideas?

There was a shoe event called Shoe Wars in April of 2006; it showcased both men's and women's shoes in various categories. There's a writeup about it in issue #2 of Second Style, which you can find here, second from the bottom:
