heyas;

yes, im brand new, so i dunno nothin. but i aspire to make and sell things. one thing i have noticed is, if you don't have land (owned or rented) or a spot in a mall, there's almost no way to sell things. or even show off your things to sell. (most public sandboxes, for example, have strict policies against advertising or selling in their environs.)

so i thought: it'd be cool if somebody organized a flea market or a swap meet of some sort. like in a big parking lot, where landless people (or even those with mall kiosks or whatever) could come and show off their stuff for sale. or wander around and trade goods and services for other stuff. where i could show/advertise/hawk my wares and not be breaking any rules!

dunno all the technical details or problems that would come up (probably a lot to do with prim count), but i dunno, might be a good traffic generator?

either that, or all the new people would never find it, cuz they're new and don't know where stuff is. ;D (yeah, that's me. by the time i find all the helper stuff for the under 30-day-olds, im gonna be like 45 days old or more!)

There are several free yard sales where you can place things for sale - make sure you read the rules first at each place. I'm not in world (I'm at work taking a break playing hooky in the forums) but search events or classifieds for free yard sales and you should find them. The one at Spirit Realm gets a lot of traffic and lets you put quite a lot of prims out, and there are a few others that are quite reasonable as well. Good luck!

A word of caution about yard sales, though - there are a number of unreputable individuals that sell free stuff at outrageous prices, so be careful what you buy. Most good yard sale owners will toss out anyone selling freebies - but a few who run their own lots and don't allow others to place items are guilty of doing it themselves.

Hi,
great idea, try coming out to Fhelzguds's Free Public Yard Sale. We have 20, 10 & 5 prim spaces. There is no gimmicks or strings attached, no group to join, no splitting of profits from your sales. Rules are; no re-boxed freebies, stay within the pads boundaries and prim count, one pad per person (regardless which size you choose), & no landmarks to established stores & constrain your products to the PG audience except for the new mature Whitestone area which we will soon have open for mature content and borders the main yard, yahoo :-). Our Free Public Yard Sales run 1 week, generally from Thursday-Thursday resetting approx. between 2:00 pm- 3:pm. During events we are present and try to greet all that come.
Encourage your friends to shop here and support the artists, builders, & creators of sl. Not mandatory, but we expend a good amount to keep Fhelzgud up & running and would like to keep away from a strictly commercial laden, billboarded enterprise.
If you have been here & appreciate our efforts please spread the word that Fhelzgud needs all the support we can get.
Come feel good at Fhelzgud :-)
