What would you like to see?

This is a spin off of a post I posted to. My question is simple what would YOU like to attend as an event. Get off your hands and type in solutions not complaints for once. What would you like to see. And hopefully this thread will be a tool for people who do events. As well as a means to let those sick of tringo finally say what they would like instead.

Maybe you should organize your post this way:

EXAMPLE:
Hi , Im Antiquity Zephyr. I would like to see more events on scripting such as shoes, I havent seen them and I would love to learn, I know nothing about scripting but have this desire to make beautiful glorious shoes! (actually want that=p but EXAMPLE!)

If anyone has this same or like interest please feel free to IM me and lets chat. Maybe an event we can pull together for some others that know bits and pieces and put our heads together to learn and lets do this!

Ok just example but form can be used in any situation. What do YOU want?

Great thread... I personally would like to see the events calender subdivided into catagories. I know we have the ability to narrow it down at the moment but it doesn't quite cut it.

I'd like to section off the Slingo/Bingo/Tringo events into a catagory, I don't want to get rid of them or even reduce the amount of events because there dead fun

I'd like to see more classes and the event support for instructors sorted out.

I'd like to see more show and tell type contents and the event support for these brought back..

Those are the main things.. I'd also like to see Buy/Sell/Trade events brought back, maybe not with events support, but section them off in the same way..

Se we'd have events and then before it showed us any we'd have to choose whether we wanted to go to a Class, Contest, Slingo/Tringo/Bingo event, Buy&Sell event and whatever other catagories.. And maybe include an All section as well..

I want event announcements back as an optional thing too with the default set to on

Thanks for the input Zapoteth. Looks though like the complaints list is going to be alot longer than the solution one. Everyone sees whats wrong and complains for "someone" to fix it. Complaining is after all the easy part and doesnt take much thought.

We've been meeting once a week to discuss as a group what we can do to make the calendar better for everyone.

It's summer and I thought of some events that would be different than tringo/clubbing/formals/yard sales:

* Barbeques
* Beach Volleyball
* Sandcastle Contest
* Surfing Tournaments
* Soccer
* Baseball/Softball in the park (teams, uniforms, etc)
* Outdoor dances (w/ faerie lights in the trees!)
* skateboard parks/tournaments
* beach parties w/ bonfires
* block parties
* a series of robberies in various neighborhoods (mystery!) w/ rewards for witnesses
* Outdoor concerts (rock, classical, whatever)
* Shakespeare in the Park!
* Olympics
* Harry Potter Book 6 Reading Club
* Harry Potter Quidditch!!

I'm 1 1/2 mos. old in SL, so I'm not sure. Maybe it's all been done, or maybe there aren't scripts for all these activities, or maybe not enough interest, but I figure if there were snowball fights in winter, why not beach volleyball?

Events that are not tied to specific time but are rather ongoing over a period of time. Examples of this are the Touchstone Educatuional Fair, Faded Reality's Chicago, the Egyptian Exhibit at Phantasie Island, the Spring Art Show at Ganymede. So many wonderful places come and go failing to connect with an interested audience but are really not relevant to a specific moment of time to be experienced.

Wow Sansarya those ideas are awsome ideas! I bet they can be done, alot of talented people in this game I get amazed by something new about every day. It would be fun to camp out on the beach telling ghost stories and such wouldnt it. And a mystery theater of some sort would be fun I would go! Great ideas hope you keep them coming!

Joining the Lindens group would be a great move for this with positive things to add to get something done!

MORE CLASSES MORE GAMES THAT INVOLVE WORDS AND FUN SOOO MUCH LESS 'sexy in black/red/yellow/pick with blue spots on' CLUB EVENTS *sshhh i think its fixed cuz seems some clubs i went to always made sure the best attendees won to encourage them to keep coming & keep their dwell high....no names mentioned but it put me RIGHT OFF...and ive never stepped foot again in any contest inside clubs*...just love games like Primuary and word association games...and WOW CARD GAMES>!!!!!

I mean COME ONE!!!..how hard is it to make a table for various card games?
we have one for Spades already but people arrived and were scared to play...

I would KILL for a card tabel with a choice of say 5 card games..some played in pairs some 1 against 1 and then you can run events for Spades/Black Jack/ Rumy....or what ever game is social ( i dont inlcude poker as thats just gambling and whilst i think adding some L$ to a SOCIAL game would spice it up...it would have to be a group game

Thats it...more classes MORE classes and at european times...im in bed when the good events start its like 12am my time when its 8pm US time.

Travis, which of the committees are you on? I joined up on the Events Workgroup weeks ago and have never been informed of a single meeting yet with the exception of a day after the big one last week where the person who was supposed ot lead it couldnt be there.

Many of these issues would be non issues if we could just get the Events organized differently, but it would take a bit of concentrated work .. not spreading it out over months.

I'm on Incentives and How the Events Calendar is set up. If you are on one of those and are havin ga meeting, please IM me! (you could put me on another if needed too) I just want to get this thing going.
