Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...

It's a feel-good kind of event - sharing favorite things, learning what makes them favorites, and raising money for a good cause.

Time: Saturday, Nov 12 2005, 12pm server time.
Location: Biloxi 180,110

Please participate in this humanitarian, educational, and slightly competitive event by doing one or both of the following:

1 - Donate! Find your favorite inventory item, and add to it a notecard of 100 words or less explaining why it is your favorite (i.e. someone special gave it to you; it is the only thing that does it for you; it took so long to make and it looks sooo good!)

Make your donation item modifiable, so we can add scripts for bidding.

Then find or contact Melanie or Alex Rollins, auction coordinators (and eager members of the Education Program in SL), to donate your item directly to them.

2 - Bid! Participate in our silent auction by bidding on the sure-to-be-fabulously-intriguing array of donated items. If you aren't interested in bidding, at least satisfy your curiosity by reading donators' explanations behind their "favorites" - it will surely be a rare glimpse into the mysterious world of personal preference!

After the bidding period is closed, the highest bidders will be able to purchase their item for the high bid price.

All auction proceeds will go to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief, thanks to the help of FlipperPA Peregrine.

How to make a donation:
1. click Find menu bar on the lower screen.
2. click People in the Find window, type Alex Rollins or Melanie Rollins, and hit search.
3. select Alex or Melanie - you will see his or her profile.
4. drag and drop your favorite item into the box where it says ?Give item?.
5. the item will then be saved in Alex or Melanie?s inventory.

We'd also like to add that donated item properties need to be modify and resale/giveaway, no copy, so that we can add bidding scripts to them. Unless someone has a better suggestion? (we are open to these, since this is our first attempt at an event!)

You might want to post in the scripting forum for assistance regarding your last request, Melanie. Good luck with the auction.
