When club managements haven't a clue

Many "club" owners, promoters or those in charge of running dance events in clubs are clueless in doing so. Many of you are illed prepared and you lose people because of this.

Many times you'll go to a club and the dances balls are all the way inside the floors and upon getting on them you and your mate are halfway down the floor. Or and there aren't enough balls or like in one club the balls kept resynching every 20 seconds causing couples to constantly jump and stop dancing.

Last night we went to a Formal Salsa Event which many of you know draws many people. Upon getting there, there were no balls left to use. The thing was although there were people dancing, there weren't that many people yet there.
I called the clubs management and was told there simply wasn't enough balls. On top of this the club had the no scripts on and no one was able to pull their own balls to use which would of at least made it better. I responded they needed to be better prepared and our group left that place and it's unlikely we'll ever return there. How are you not going to staff enough dance balls and then for an event which draws so many? Is this good business? Or common sense?

The club where the balls kept re-synching and then in the main chat window which made it even worse. I spoke to management there and was told the balls did this because after 20 seconds balls usually go out of synch and the club did it like this to resynch the dancers.
Isn't this the choice of the people dancing whether they resynch or not? Many people don't care, they don't want to be bothered by constantly jumping on and off. In this place it was terrible as each time the balls resynched couples would skip and jump to start over.

If you're going to take the task of running these events be better prepared. let others be able to use their balls, many clubs do this and it's easier and better for the participants.
Not running events properly seems to be par for the course in sl. This is why so many clubs continue to fail and as long as they continue shoddy management it won't stop.

Event calendar Abuse!

Free posting are for events where there is not likely to be any money exchagned on either side! Book readings, arts exhibits, openings of public venues, music concerts or stage performances by actors. AA meetings or Dragon club meetings or the Daughters of the Confederacy coffee clatch! It does not mean yard sales or Zyngo or Slingo or best animal avatar contest at "The Farm Nightclub" of best chrome spikes at "Metal mania Disco and sports bar! If they want to run that stuf fine but make them pay to advertise it.

The free event calendar should be reserved EXCLUSIVELY for in world activites and EVENTS that are non reccurring and free to the public and are not for the purpose of selling someting or any other sort of commerce including "NEw Mall Opens" or "Land for Sale"! WHO CARES! IF you are running a business then advertise and stop exploiting the community activities PAY FOR YOUR ADVERTISING! Land being for sale is not an event! Houses for rent are not events!

Having said that and being a mall owner and an event promoter in world myself I will ad this about the "Grand Openings" and the "we are giving away a free crapload of Lindens from a sploder" because its easy and it attracts the lowest common denominator of traffic kind of mentality and "live dj" as an event mentality. GET CREATIVE!

IF you want to promote a opening of a new mall then throw a party, have fireworks, a live band, and truely give away some nice prizes! Spend your advetising and marketing budget! Do something FUN!

I saw those new spamming danceballs. Although it is a good idea to keep people dancing longer - there has to be a option for the owner to mute that spam. You can always mute the objects yourself, but that is a big hassle.

I bought a new device last night, rezzed it on the dancefloor and it proceeded to go crazy. I took it back into inventory and contacted the creator. He upgraded the device and gave me a discount. The club owners that learn how to place the danceballs and upgrade equipment properly will survive the cut. Those that don't won't. Survival of the fittest it seems.

The second poster is doing the same message in all the post in events.
While it is annoying I thought that type of posting is against the rules?
Anyway yeah I find most clubs either really annoying, host often scream in caps, there not very much fun, the strobe lights actually give me headache and if they use dance balls half often don't work. So I quit going to them. It be better to get your own dance ball to dance with your partner and stay home, dance with friends, hope the conversation is bit better and no one is screaming at you to buy something.

I just shut down my club after 4 mths . All I have to say is this ,Its easy to point a finger ,when your not lifting one !!!

And another thing ,why did they raise the dancers % if it was 50/50 maybe we would not fail !!

It's not that it's easy to point a finger it's just the truth. If you're going to go as far as making a club then be prepared to service it and service it properly. Don't do it halfway as many clubs do it nowadays then they wonder why no one attends their club.

If you're not going to put enough dance balls then let others do it, don't stop them from pulling out their dance balls then. You don't provide them but you also don't let others pull them out.

It doesn't make sense. Many club promoters, owners and dj's haven't a clue and since they don't they shouldn't be in the club business. Leave that for the people who actually know what they're doing which by the way it is aren't that many.

We Know What We're Doing

Those of you disillusioned by clubs in Second Life, I recommend you come to The Tyger's Den Party Club or The Tyger's Den Nude Beach Resort, whichever we're having events at, at the time. We don't do any of the things that you have mentioned and as long as you're a group member you CAN rez your own dance balls if you want. We have a live DJ who is excellent, our events are usually at 6pm SL time and end at 8, with contests for Linden prizes. Tonight we're at the Beach for a Best in Swimwear contest with a 750L prize giveaway. Plus the beach has MUCH more to offer, so hey, shameless promotion here, come try us out and judge for yourself. :-)

(Search for Den in places or IM Kathryn Primrose for a landmark.)
