I work in the sandbox a lot lately, and it's happened quite a few times now where I've been asked where to start learning things such as building, scripting, texturing etc. Back when SL was still in its infancy all they would have to do is take a look at the events listing and choose from the myraid of classes pretty much covering the schedule. It seems lately tho, I'm not even sure where to send these people, as I dont think I've even seen a single class listing in the past week of looking at the events.

If anyone has any good suggestions for places to send new people to start learning would you mind posting them here? Also, are there any organizations out there that conduct classes on any regular schedule?

I quit teaching scripting after LL stopped caring about their instructors. We would ask for better locations to hold classes, and were given crappy locations and no support for expanding education in SL.

I think Teazer Isle does classes regularly. Its hard to notice classes unless I search only classes in the find though. I also like to suggest the library tower of primatives. Because they can take their time looking through the tutorials there on their own.

I'm buried in RL work and voluteering as a greeter.

If anyone needs private tutorials IM me for rates.

FYI a new Prim College is under construction.

I have been intending to start a new set of classes, but I just haven't had time. It is rather difficult, becuase you have to have each new class approved individually.

In the meantime, the best way to learn is just to ask whoever is at hand. I am always happy to answer questions over at my place whenever someone stops by (or anywhere, for that matter).

I teach scripting classes myself, although various RL factors have conspired tomake it difficult for me to do so regularly lately (in other words, I've been sick).

The lack of a "good" Instructors' area isn't a concern for me, since I use my own land... I'm honestly surprised more people don't do that.

I just held my weekly beginner's building class today at 2pm at the NCI. Had a decent turnout. Lots of fun. Every week I refine my materials a bit further.

Hosts like The Sojourner make teaching very easy....

I taught a few water design classes in SL for The Sojourner and her group and loved doing them. She was always extremely helpful in making a cumbersome class like mine, be easy. She managed the space, she ensured that I had enough prims. She even personally escorted some students who could not find the location. Because I had such a postive experience with her at my previous classes, I am going to use her Luo location for my after-Thanksgiving classes.

She tends to hold quite a few contests and competitions but would probably accommodate any patient teacher who could wait in the wings for a bit!
