Another thought I had was..would people like to see Ms. Secondlife Pageants and City area Pageants to get to the Major Pageant Contest. Im not familiar with all the City area names yet..but I was wondering if people would like to see it..other games like Starwars Galaxies have these Pageants. Basically..you would compete and represent your City area to win a chance at competing in the finals for Ms. Secondlife Beauty Pageant Contest.

Another popularity contest? I am sorry, but i agree with Devlin... "no."

No matter what the creator's intention, these things always turn into popularity contests. Entrants get thier friends to show up (or not show up) and vote for them, and the person with the most friends/calling cards wins. No attention is truly paid to the merits of the individual entrants - their talents, their creative abilities, their intentions if they do win.... Heck, i can even state that it's not even based on 'appearance' here in second life as it sometimes is here in RL; i've seen some very pretty avatars passed up for 'winning' these things for one that (in my opinion) is less attractive - and i honestly believe it's because they had fewer friends to vote for them. In other words, newer residents really don't stand a chance against established residents, and then it falls back to 'who is most popular' among the oldbies.

Of course, it's all sliders in the appearance aspect - combined with how much money one has to spend on accessories to enhance appearance... so that point really IS moot.

(Forgive any typos and/or incoherent sentances. I am running on a 2 day migraine with some pretty intense meds in my system at the moment.)

That is one reason I haven't joined a group because it would seem partial in the Entertainment business. As far as having money to pretty up your AV..that's just a fact of life..contestants that want to compete should be prepared and an unbiased board would have to be Judges (Maybe Newbies) and I understand even if I start a group that some may think there could be lobbyists/preference to certain groups/friends..Politics per say..Brockwell Entertainment could not be involved in preference..nor any member if this were to work for fairness. As far as beauty..well..that's part of the individual talent and time one takes to make their Avitar.

I don't think Newbies would necessarily be impartial judges.

There are so many beauty contests in world already. Go ahead make another one.

"User-created content takes the idea of leveraging player opinions a step further by allowing them to effectively prototype new ideas and features. Developers can then measure which new concepts most improve the products and incorporate them into the game in future patches."

DebbieAnn Fairplay organized a fabulous Ms Secondlife pageant a few months back :)

It was a lot of fun (I made it to the top 10!) and there was a good response. There were judges taken from different many different areas in SL, as well as fashion etc, and a couple of Lindens were on board to judge it too including Philip ;)

I was interested in putting a pageant together, but I just dont' have the energy for something of that magnitude these days, but I think there are a lot of folks who'd be interested in colaborating with you on a pageant project :D

I do like the idea of city contests of any sort really including pageants. I guess you might could do it by sim name instead? Have folks representing their sim, or get sponsored by someone from a sim if they don't happen to "live" anywhere in particular.

Keep up the enthusiasm! If you want to do something go ahead and do it :D and don't worry about various disparaging commentary :P Fun is Fun ;)

Nope, wouldn't like it, wouldn't recommend it, wouldn't go to it, and hope it's not in my neighborhood. That about covers it.
