i have recently turned my hand to hosting & find it to be quite alot of fun & enjoyed the support that linden provided for me to hold these events. i truly enjoyed coming up with creative ideas for events that weren't run of the mill. i never had raffle balls......i figured if the event was good people would come regardless of wheter or not you were tossing out a gazillion lindens....but there was always prize money for the contest. i don't have a ton of extra money to give away on my own so holding events without linden support is just not a viable option for me anymore.
i can't build well enough to sell anything, i don't design clothes & i can't script.....how am i supposed to make money?
so my question is this.........what exactly qualifies as an educational event? are there that many possibilities that will actually keep this open as a viable option for event hosts? or will we eventually have the same problem we have now? instead of 20/day show us your boobie contests will it be 20/day how to rezz a cube classes or god forbid classes on how to have good avvi cyber sex. i don't mean to be facetious but i just don't see it.......but maybe i am just being obtuse.
thoughts & ideas pls!!!!!!!

What constitutes educational events? Not anything new.

I wrote to ask if my scener's competitions could be considered educational. (I have a bfa and mfa in theatre and am essentially providing opportunities for folks to try their hands at actor improv which i could teach for university credit. folks on sl get me way cheap.) Short answer? No. Only stuff that they currently offer will be considered educational, according to the response I got from support. One woman i knew yesterday said her plans were to sell herself to the outrageously wealthy, so for you wealthy builders out there enjoying the Linden-created ho culture, i guess it is good to be the king. For the rest of us, sucky deal.
