I would like to make my own clothing but I only know how to use Corel Photo-Paint. No matter what I try I cant seem to get alpha channels to work right. Does anyone have a tutorial for making clothing using Photo-Paint?

Alpha channels are easier to do well in photopaint than photoshop.
Suppose you have an object in photoshop. "Create mask from object". Your mask will be saved as the alpha channel. Export as TGA. Easy as pie ![]() _____________________

I found this tutorial on the Corel website. I've never used Photopaint, but this seems pretty easy to follow.
Let me know how it works out for you. If it's good, I'll add the info to the transparency guide at the top of the forum. _____________________

I tried to follow the instructions above, but can't save alpha channels to
tga, and there does not appear to be an export option for this file format. Has anyone been able to do this in Corel Photopaint? Thank you! |

This works for me in Photopaint 11.
Make your painting. Select the part you want to be transparent. Invert the selection. Do File Save As TGA. When Photopaint asks if you want to use Normal or Enhanced, choose Normal. _____________________

Is Corel Photopaint different that Corel Paint Shop Pro? I have an example for Corel Paint Shop Pro XI on my blog www.secondlifehowto.com that tells you how to use transparency to make butterfly wings for your avatar. I find Adobe Photoshop to be very obscure and by comparison I personally found Corel Paint Shop Pro to be much more intuitive. Plus Paint Shop Pro is only about $50 compared to Adobe Photoshop's cost of $500 or so.
