I mean really...this is really getting out of hand. Wherever I go I see the camping zombies sitting there for sometimes as little as L$5/hour.

I am hearing them ask for money and some are willing to do whatever it takes to make some quick $L. This looks and sounds very familiar.

Go to the nearest bad neighborhood around you and you see the same thing with your local crackheads.

Hmmm. Wonder how else campers compare?

Just kidding...that's an interesting analogy, though.

In RL i work in a job that puts me in Constant contact with Panhandlers, Crack Heads, and their like. After a Long shift the LAST thing i want is to Log in to SL and be panhandled. For me it's a one way Ticket to a Mute, a Boot, and a Ban.

Angel.

Shhh. Don't tell but they are really sinister. Some of them go shopping in another life while doing this or secretly design clothes while sitting there, or have long conversations via YIM with people who aren't really in the same place, while they pretend to sit in front of a gambling machine or to dance. This is outright dishonest and scandalous.

I had a girl IM me saying how she'd be my "slave for life" for 150-200 L$, and I must admit, I almost took her up on it. Could've easily made more than my money back, flesh is a fast moving commodity, even digital flesh. ;)

Hmm... RL crackheads sitting in RL camping chairs for free money...

Someone needs to run with this, but I'm busy at work. :(

*threadjack*

I challenge you to come up with creative uses for the aforementioned scenario!

Sorry, I don't know what's gotten into me. :o

People have IMed me out of the blue and offered to service me sexually for some linden... What they fail to realise is that i am a furry and they are a human. C'mon people Linden dollars aren't that hard to get. If you don't know how to create anything you can sell (SL has the most simplest 3D modeling tools and scripting language i've ever seen too), then buy money off Lindex. Also clothing, skin, and hair are a options. If people like your work they will be willing to pay you for it. This is the honest way.

Panhandling will only make people dislike you. You don't HAVE to create either. Theres Jobs too. Or you can try to win at events and contests. Theres also casinos. Second Life is aLso LOADED with freebies, unlike other virtual worlds like THERE. Use the search tool and find them. You really don't even need money. I barely use my money. I prefer to hang out in my home sim and building stuff. Anything i need i build it.

Or heck, hit the money trees. My wife picks up a good L$ 150-200 a day just from visiting them.

Sounds just like the one who IMed me out of the blue after going down the list of names starting with "S" who were logged in.

Anyone who'd be your "slave for life" for less than one US dollar is probably going to be a pretty crappy slave. You get what you pay for. :)

And the comparisons continue...

Well most RL crackheads-

-lack, or choose not use, skills to make money in RL (lack of scripting, building, etc. knowledge)

-are homeless or live in low income housing (first land?)

-will rob and steal and then try to sell those items for cash (tryng to sell freebie's for $L)

-are usally paid by dealers to do petty tasks for either crack, cash or a place to stay (Land owners paying campers just to improve the traffic rating in search)

-panhandle or beg for cash (mentioned above)

-prostitute themselves out for cash (also mentioned above)

-aimlessly wander around in search of their next opportunity (TPing from sim to sim looking for the best payouts)

Although there is no physical "addiction" to camping you have to admit the comparison is very interesting.

Happens in any MMO that has currency too. I remember a time back when i played anarchy online, This panhandler newb was walking around Tir City asking for credits. People gave him some too. Instead of using these credits to purchase helpful game items that would help him level up, i see him walking around in a fancy mir leopard dotted trenchcoat. Quickly this news spread to the OOC channel and nobody gave him anymore money.

At least crackheads get something out of it... THEY GET CRACK! THEY GET HIGH! THEY GET THEIR FIX!!!

camping zombies are like nothingheads... they're fiending for jack squat!

To me, I think a crackhead has more value in the world than someone who uses SL to camp
