Web3D Chat and Linden Labs have entered early discussions to integrate Second Life into the seamless Web3D Chat system. Web3D Chat, located at http://web3Dchat.com, is gearing up for a number of new changes including transparent and seamless integration with 3rd party chat systems. Scheduled to launch in 2005, Web3D Chat is designed to become a leading World Wide Web destination for people, bots, drones and spiders to participate in a wide variety of interactive 3D chats and social activities.

Maybe it's logical. If we get a full unrestricted implementation of p2p our "external world" of a single virtual contiguous landmass is now, in my opinion, doomed. Our destination is to be a set of discontiguous linkable 3d spaces, for advertising and chat. Any external space other than a little isolated residential garden for pleasure will become the exception, not the rule, and they will not all be connected together by geography.

Is there no demand for continuous geography?

The website's forum looks pretty inactive. Has anyone gone to the site and successfully used the system presented there?

Caligari Corporation showed off its new trueSpace7 3D modeling and animation software at the 2005 Game Developer's Conference. trueSpace is marketed to media and content designers, and can produce 3D content in formats such as Flash, Shockwave3D, and Viewpoint. According to a company press release trueSpace7 will feature "real-time modeling and animation in a virtual 3D shared space by remote participants over broadband internet." truSpace7 will also feature real-time shadows, shaders, and programmability. Having a shared 3D space with built-in chat capability makes it possible for developers to try out new ideas in real time, perhaps leading to accelerated development.
