You know the feeling. There you sit, on your 512, or your 1024, or - it matters not the actual size; you have been happy with it, and it has met your needs.

Then you see some new land. Land you want! Maybe it is next to the land you already have. And you have the Lindens to buy it!

Pretty soon that next tier level isn't looking anywhere near as daunting. You can think of a thousand reasons why you need more land, deserve more land, and can probably make more land pay off in the future!

You look at the tier-up price - you look at the land sitting there tempting you - and suddenly that price doesn't look so bad after all, in fact, it's practically a bargain!

So you buy the land! Yay!

What a feeling. All that fresh, new land - you just can't wait to feel the thrill of "return objects" to the previous owner. You love the thought of expanding your fence to encompass all your new land! You can't wait to start . . . PUTTING OUT MORE PRIMS!

Yes, it's that old land magic of SL. And yep, even the thriftiest of us find ourselves coming back for more, when we once swore we were at our limit. It's SUCH a good feeling!

Just a note Coco, most sellers remove wanted structures before they put anything up for sale. The really good sellers put down landscaping so they aren't just selling a piece of ugly flat land. It's a good neighbor policy as well. Most people don't like to see empty lots next to theirs.

I am saying all this because if it is really not some structure someone wants and it's merely a bunch of Linden plants placed to make the lot look nicer, it's much better to delete these Linden plants rather than return all.

You may not be aware, but return all spams a person's mailbox. Just a thought. I could be wrong.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

Well, April, I really must apologize for my good mood today, I suppose.

The wishing well is my neighbor's (or the girl who was my neighbor); I know her; and she has already sold me some of her other land when I noticed today she had this land for sale, too. As did some other people next to me. I bought it all.

I thought that I would return the wishing well to her. I know about Linden plants, etc.

Were you buying first land from your "neighbor?"

Mhm. I remember my FIRST EVER parcel of land. It was on Yuki Callahan. There I sat, on my first day ( premium, previously I had a basic account ), on my nice chunk of land. It was......Um...in 2004 I spose. It was in a tropical sim. I think it started with a Y or L.

Then I moved to a sweet lil 2048 plot, overlooking a nice river valley in cottonwood.

I am thinking the idea of buying a sim. It would be nice. Maybe a shopping mall/sandbox/all around area for Ayame. Maybe naming it Little Kyoto?

Well Coco

When i first started I had my 512, in uh... somewhere >.>, this was back in may 2004, so forgive my crappy memory. A few weeks later I was buying bit sof land here and there within the sim to bump up my prim count.

Then my neighbour offered me a realy reasonable price for all my land in the sim, so I moved out, into Maui, and then it started, I just NEEDED more, everytime something came up for sale I was there lol. I ended up with just over 24k of land in Maui and just over 10k of land scattered on the grid.

Thats where I figured a sim would be the next best move, I was already paying almost fullwhack, so I decided to go for it. I really wanted Maui, but to gain control of the sim was going to cost me well over £400k lindens, and I figured for that, and a fantastic deal on a used sim I was offered, I just couldn't say no.

Somedays I wish I was back in the small land frameset again, its alot more personal and alot less hassle.

But yeah, its easy to get sucked in, but thats not a bad thing, if you can make good of the land you have :)

Oh I see. I wasn't sure if this was the case or not, but then someone else can learn something from reading this. It's all a learning experience.

I've been enjoying your posts today, in between playing WoW and packing up some stuff off a peice of land I was renting but I'm not going to rent anymore after Mon. It was a quarter of a sim and I had so much stuff on it, but I was hardly there, and I have another quarter of a sim I use for the school and studio and I spend most of my tme there. So having the two places seem rather silly. I'm just glad all I had to do was tell Hiro Queso that I would no longer be renting and then cancel the Paypal subscription. I'm so glad I don't have to worry about finding someone to pass it on to and getting them to start a group and finding the sim owner to transfer the deed to. Whew!

Back to WoW!

Sorry to sidetrack, but PM me and let me know what WoW server you are playing on if you are ever interested in some company. I have scaled back playing WoW lately, but I like to make new characters and try out some stuff I still haven't tried - especially on some of the new servers that have opened up.

It is a feeling I resist every day :) This time last year, I didn't have the willpower to resist!

Thankfully, as I no longer own any land in the snow sims, I don't have the daily reminder of For Sale land sitting next to me, temptingly.

In my current Sim, there hasn't been any land for sale in months... also I own a triangular piece of land, where two sides border different Sims, and the third is Linden road, so there's no possibility of being tempted by adjacent, same-Sim land.

Still, if those people on the other side of the road ever wanted to move, that would be tempting! Not that I am anywhere near my prim limit right now. I like to leave the ground level sparsely built anyway, and do all my building experiments in the sky. I currently have 5 display levels and a working level, all above 250 meters high.

So true coco..

I had my first land in De Haro, the camp site sim, which wasn't much good because you couldn't sell anything, and you were supposed to have a tent or a cabin.. But I built a house, didn't know about select texture, so my walls were 2 prims thick to have paint on the inside, and brick on the outside.. I used all the prims in the building of the house, so it was one big room, with no furniture.. I then went on to buy a Boardman plot (next door) to.. Ok.. This is too long.. I'm gonna start a "Post your SL story thread".. I'll edit to add a link when I'm done..

Edit: Here. MAN thats a long thread..

I still own the first plot of land I bought in SL. It was dirt cheap, public land which cost 1L/m. I bought that parcel in early June of 2003. I miss the days of public land.
