Sigh #2

I was fool enough at one time to build a custom home for someone and accidently gave them full perms, now it seems they are reselling copies of it - and people are coming to me saying when they res it its all messed up -

I have apologized to these people and suggested they go back to the seller for assistance, no idea what she did to the house. But I can't come fix a product I didn't sell you even if my name is listed as the creator - I'll bend over backwards for someone who bought from me but have no control over something I didnt sell you so please beware

Oh, dear - you have my sympathy. Maybe the person made big changes and thought it was enough to make it hers/his - perhaps the person doesn't really know what is happening. That a lot of maybes, but it could be so.

Yeah, it sucks when this happens but little anybody can do. My policy is, as soon as an item escapes my inventory with full perms, it's public domain. I have given street textures to close friends and have later found them used in completely unrelated builds all over SL. I doubt there was malicious intent. It's just a kind of entropy.

You can yell at people, and you would be right! But you would be no better than when you started. Live and learn

Thats why I give out alot of freebies I make. If I ever see them for sale at a resellers place though, I know where the abuse button is.

Actually my main concern is thet managed to modify it before they resold it and I saw what was pieces of the home scattered about when the poor person who bought ot took ot out - but it all still has my name on it so people might think sheesh who is this moron who made this crap?? and there goes my reputation. I never claomed to be the best builder in SL but I try hard and back my work up. making a profit off me is one thing - ruining my reputation quite another

No. Capitalism values property rights above all. That includes intellectual property. Unauthorized selling of intellectual property is not capitalism. It is clear in this case that the creator didn't intend the house to be resold.

In some communist countries it is common with large scale commerical copyright infringement, that would be just the place for you.
