I'm sure there's probably a thread or 3 out there about this already but regardless, I'm startin another one!  A couple nights ago I had the chance to sit and talk with an old friend of mine when she tells me "Did you hear? They're closing the forums down? Maybe not right away but in the near future." Now, perhaps this was based on rumor? Or a misinterpretation of a post regarding the topic? But knowing the friend as well as I do, I sincerely doubt it is either of those things. SO, that said, I'd like to see how the community thinks about LL closing these forums down and thus, putting the community in a position to have to seek out other venues to discuss and share information about Second Life. I may get some flamage on this and let me just say from the beginning: All input is valued and appreciated. I really just want to know if others in the community feel as I do, that it would be a sad and dissapointing mistake for such a thing to occur. |

It's just sad to me that by doing that, LL is essentially saying "Good or bad, we're tired of reading what our community has to say."
I know I get a lot of my information about SL from these forums wether it's help with scripts or building, news on updates or new product releases ect.
I've been reading these forums for the past year + I've been in SL and it blows my mind that they would even consider such a thing.
They've made a lot of decisions lately and changes to SL that seem to be unpopular to the majority. Even with that in mind, and that it may be "beating a dead horse", with the forums closing being an "inevitable" circumstance, I'd still like to see some consideration from LL on the part of those of us who still value and use these forums for responsible, mature purposes.
I think it is perhaps laziness and inconsiderate to even propose such a thing. Why couldn't they simply impose some regulations on what is posted here? Perhaps to alleviate whatever prompted them to make this decision in the first place?
