Seeing something and wanting to build something similar

i saw a house i loved, but can't afford to purchase it, is it ok for me to try and build something similiar?
asking cause everyone is testy on this stuff, and i just want to make sure :(

also, there is no way i can do a job so well as theres either, nor do i have their textures or whatever and just saw it once.. so can i?

Its fine, it's just unethical to create the exact same object, then market and sell it as an original design. Making your own personal house, for your own use, is no one's business anyway.

In fact I would say it's a good way to practice. Think of it as trying paint-by-numbers before becoming a full fledged artist. :) If you're making something for only yourself and have no plans to profit off of it then it's just practice.
