I have been fortunate enough to find someone who I enjoy spending time with very much, and who can say the same about me, and after spending some time, and careful consideration, we've decided to patner....

my question is, what (if anything) does this do other then put our name in each others profile? we have already granted each other access rights edit and move objects around, is there some larger degree of access rights that partnering entitles you to? please advise.

at the moment all partenering does is add your partners name to that box in your profile your profile & yours to his/hers.

a long while back there was discussion about doing more with regards to partnering but I think that's all in the back burner as LL tries to work on other things.

Ummmm....
You can get "Bits" that only work with your partner, thus insuring fidelity?

...And after 0.5-3 months of bliss and "bits", you'll de-partner (without even a note, you'll notice in your profile 4 or 5 days later), and then in another 34 days (or so) you'll be partnered again. Sound like fun? Good Luck!

Is it REALLY that bad?
I don't know, not having partnered myself in SL
(I have a RL partner who would see it as cheating... as do I.)

Still blissfully SL single until I can get my RL partner to log in ~~~

Not in every case, of course. Some fall madly in love, end up meeting each other in real life, maybe move in together, get married... But I would say in general partnering in SL doesn't last for very long.

Not to mention you might get the classic 'your bits just dont do it for me anymore' rejection line.

Partnering here can be very rewarding. I've loved here, I've lost here.

Would I trade one second of it for the pain the end caused? Not in this lifetime. :)

I've been partnered before, one lasted 8mths and made me uber happy and we parted and remained friends, others didnt last so long and were just turned out sour.

After consideration my current partner decided to ask me, and I gotta say hes made me the happiest I think I have ever been in SL, finally found my soulmate... and I would share the world with him, if SL allowed it :)

HAHA, Gabe you have a point. However, I think the time is skewed in SL. For example: 1 month in SL may be equal to 1 year in RL. I doubt there is a high percentage of people who are married for a month in RL (aside from Hollywood), where as in SL, I would say it's more common.

AND I think just like in RL, relationships are rewarding, but there can more challenges to a SL relationship. For example when RL calls, there may be a period of time where you are unable to log on. Will your partner be understanding? Is it easier to lie to your online partner, knowing that you don't have to look them in the eyes? I don't know maybe I am just a cynic when it comes to partnering.

No one can tell you if your partnership is gonna last, or what the stipulations are. Patnership, just liek all other aspects of life are what you make of it. It does help to find the perfect partner like I have. Soulmates...the world..thats jsut the begining babis ;) <3<3<3<4

I was trying to partner with someone, but she told me she couldn't because we would have share our assets 50/50, and that it wasn't fair to her because she makes a lot of lindens and i'm just a broke, stupid noob. But I haven't been able to find out if this is true or not in the FAQs. Is this true? I really love her, and I tried to meet her in RL, but she didnt meet me at the airport like she said she would. PLEASE C.H., if you read this, call me!

Right now, partnership in SL means nothing. It adds nothing and if anything, just is a name on your profile that people will ask you about when they see you alone. I don't expect LL to add any of the features that people who've partnered up have been asking for, like having two-person groups, splitting the bill for two-person group land, shared inventories, the option to have full permission to edit items, etc. It's pretty much useless and, at best, can be a mutual declaration of cough-commitment-cough or, at worst, a mockery of one.

Partnerships are only mildly interesting anyway when it's one of the same gender. My gosh! like, imagine all the hot lesbianic sex. :p

LESBIANIC?
Is that a word??

I mean really!
Is that a proper word or something you just made up?
