So far the F1 help window works as a simpliffied browser if you edit your settings.xml file a bit. It isnt groundbreaking but it allows me to post on the forums. Theres still a issue with server switching and cookies. Eventually that browser will be fully functional. I heard the HTML on a prim will come after that.

how to change settings.xml
08-25-2006 12:06
Yiffy, any changes I make to settings.xml seem to be scrubbed when the client launches. How do I change the file in such a way that my changes get preserved?
Thanks! _____________________

In the latest client you can easily change the initial page right from the SecondLife Client.
Client->Debug Settings brings up a dialog of keywords and allows you to see and edit the value associated with it. HelpHomeURL is the keyword, with a default value of help/index.html |

Well make sure SL is closed (not launched yet), and edit your... C:\Documents and Settings\Your Profile\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings\settings.xml Paste these lines somewhere after the first line. <!--URL for help system homepage--> <HtmlHelpHomePage value="http://forums.secondlife.com"/> <!--Last URL visited via help system--> <HtmlHelpLastPage value="http://forums.secondlife.com"/> You can also add this to disable AFK but thats optional. ![]() <!--Automatically set AFK (away from keyboard) mode when idle--> <AllowAFK value="FALSE"/> Save the file and make a backup. Then launch SL. You don't actually have to log in to view the browser. Just hit F1 at the title screen. It should load up into the SL forums. You can change the URL's to anything, just don't expect the browser to work with things like google that go to different websites. _____________________

O.o This definatly dont look like a gender select lol. Looks to me more like you can put in how many times youve done it. >.> _____________________
