Here Has some rather.. uh.. interesting stuff... From: someone The effect of changes made by the games' developers upon the in-game economy. Certain changes made or proposed by the developers have had the effect of creating new markets, but also have on occasion destroyed or removed the value of existing ones, or given the market leader at a particular (often arbitrary) time unique advantages that entrench them as a market leader in the future, thus creating a coercive monopoly. Some residents have developed this objection further into a conspiracy theory which claims that a particular group of players, usually referred to as the "FIC" (Feted - or Fetid - Inner Core), use their connections with Linden Lab staff to trigger game and policy changes that are beneficial to their own businesses at the expense of others. From: someone No Response from Support. Attempts to get help from support, billing or abuse are ignored. Lindenlabs pretends to provide online help but no one has ever received any reply using the regular email adresses. I dunno why i've never looked at it before!

wow. I knew support was a bit ropey, but NO ONE has EVER received a reply from support?! It must be true though. It's in the wikipedia! and people are always quoting the wikipedia to back up their arguments round here.

From: Kris Ritter It must be true though. It's in the wikipedia! I always though that wikipedia sometimes allows vandalism, inaccuracy, inconsistency or uneven quality, and opinion. I'm conviced that is so, because I read it on wikipe..... oh fudge!

I don't see Aimee Weber in the Notable Members section so I suspect this wiki is just a cruel parody.

It's ridiculous to say there's no email support. That's not a fact and should be removed from the entry. The great thing about wikipedia is that even though anyone can edit something, what everyone does is clearly documented. The same person also added the part about "Banned accounts" which previously read: From: someone ... In many cases bans have been aplied based on fake player complaints. In some cases players who had been part of the game for more than a year were banned merely on hearsay and accusations, losing all benefits. Linden labs continues to deny these incidents. ...to which another editor came along and removed that bit only to have this same person come back and add the now revised text concerning "Objectionable topics". Sounds like someone just has a stick up their arse to me.

I watched that topic for a little bit not long ago. There seems to be one or two individuals who make it their hobby to post misinformation. Probably someone with a gigantic chip on their shoulder, a persecution complex, and feelings of inadequacy. The best thing to do is edit the entry so that it's factual and not an opinionated spew of misinformation.

Yes I have been watching it too LOL One individual detailed a extensive rant bout the FIC even cited her own blog as evidence (that whole section has since been removed.)

No, just bored and tired of people using WP as validation since it is akin to citing your daft, drunk buddy's email for confirmation on the world record number of peanuts ever held in one person's mouth.

Wikipedia is become a bit of a victim of its own success.
It's being vandalised and abused because it's been so successful in providing real content that you can generally take seriously.
For example, I found the complaint by the Kennedy's assistant interesting - not so much because of the libel, but that the assistant felt that Wikipedia was serious enough that it was an issue.
It's a bit like SL itself in a way. People complain so bitterly because SL means so much to them.

I've read it before, not lately though.
I tried to get an entry created for a line someone stated here in a section that included such things as Murphy's Law but it kept getting taken out. I think it was probably because the quote was attributed to an avatar.
Let the Wikipedia War Games begin!
