Hello, Since the classifieds are post only now I have actually been thinking of using them, so I went to look at the list for the first time and I did not like what I saw. First, there are several people that are cross-posting store announcements into the product list. Since in most cases, said store announcement is *duplicated* in the correct (store announcements) list, I have to assume thjis is willful selfishness. To all those doing this, a big raspberry from me, and I hope your selfish ways backfire on you sometimes soon. (they always do eventually) Secondly, almost no-one is including a picture of the product in the advertisement. I talked this over with some friends and most of us agreed that this is not only stupid, but it leaves you with lots of folks (like me for instance), that will never see your stuff. If you are too lazy to put a couple of pictures together with PShop and put it in the ad itself (I know only one pic is allowed), then guess what? ... Then I am too lazy to click a few times, open another window, and be taken to some stupid photobucket site. So you lose! (sales) A lot of people are just linking to SLExchange or SLBoutique, but I cant be bothered to go there either. I have my stuff on SLBoutique, but I dont expect *everyone* to go there and they have their own lists, searches etc. If it's just an ad for SLBoutique, why not put it on SLBoutique??? If, as a designer, you can use PhotoShop well enough to make the product, surely you can make a single picture for each advertisement and product announcement that loads into the list and doesn't need to be clicked. Stop being so goddamned lazy and get to work!

From reading some of the posts, people are having problems posting pictures. So it's not just laziness.

From: Mysty Delorean From reading some of the posts, people are having problems posting pictures. So it's not just laziness. Heh, well continuing in "angry rant mode".... They are stupid as well as lazy? (This is speaking as someone who has never had and attachment to an SL forum post fail of course, perhaps there are technical issues I haven't seen. ) Usually you click "attach file," upload the file, then it shows. If you pick the wrong file type, or if the file is too large, it warns you every time AFAIK. Never seen it fail in over 7 months of using the forums. Just to be positive, it *is* nice to see that without follow-ups, a product can stay on the first page for a couple of days now it seems. This is wonderful news!

From: Dianne Mechanique Heh, well continuing in "angry rant mode".... They are stupid as well as lazy? There have been ongoing recent technical problems with attachments - people unable to attach files are not stupid and lazy. I have helped several people recently who could not attach by hosting images for them and giving them the IMG tags to use. Nice rant though -it's always nice to call people stupid for things that are not even their fault.

Did you completely miss the forum down-time where they were trying to address the problem of files not attaching, and the announcements about it, and the hotline posts?

From: Cristiano Midnight Of course not, that would be stupid and lazy, n'est-ce pas? God! Yes, I *am * stupid and lazy. And I was sooo serious about offending all the stupid and lazy people. I am sure that all those people posting links to SL Boutique and SLExchange are only doing that because they are afraid of posting attachments because of that brief temporary glitch where attachments dont work recently that a couple of people heard about. That is such a reasonable explanation that I deserve to be smacked REALLY HARD for not considering it. WTF was I thinking? I should know that if there is any other explanation other than lazyness, of course that must be it. It could never be anyones fault, and if it is, I am sure there can't be anything wrong with that. It's like, their preference right? To be that way? And no one's preference can be wrong. They are just different from mine, and equaly valid no matter what, right?

I have helped several people recently who could not attach by hosting images for them and giving them the IMG tags to use. Nice rant though -it's always nice to call people stupid for things that are not even their fault. I can't directly attach photos to the forum so I had to put an IMG tag from photobucket. It's a great hassle since sometimes photobucket won't let me update. Also another consideration to think of is that not everyone can load or see the pics (either because they're at a separate PC at work or something) and they find it faster and easier to see it if I post it at as a link to a separate window instead (which I used to do before they turned the Classifieds into Post Only). And to some folks, a link to slbotique or slexchange is a favor to the consumer to make sl shopping a lot easier. It's just sad to think that people are being called 'stupid' and 'lazy' for things that aren't either their fault or for just being considerate. I'm sure that some people might be lazy for posting stuff but it's very unfair to think that *everyone* is 'stupid' and 'lazy' just for not posting ad pics.

I wish they would leave the dang Classifieds alone! From what you all have said, I'm assuming that the next time I go to advertise a product, I won't be able to just put the picture on it, as I once did, but now I will have to go figure out PhotoBucket or whatever (and figuring these things out isn't easy for me!). This must be a result of the changes they made when they took the forums down. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO POST MY PICTURES! I wish they would stop making things harder! I hate it when people "fix" things in order to make them harder or worse! coco

You can still post your pictures. There were technical difficulties, which they have addressed. No change in policy other than to wipe classifieds that are more than 6 months old to free up resources. Nothing to see here. Move along. You don't have to attach any pictures or register on Photobucket-type websites. Going to http://www.imageshack.us/ will bring up a file upload screen. Choose the picture of your product, click "host it" and it'll automagically create the code you need to insert it into a bulletin board post. Simple, even for Americans.

I hate it when people "fix" things in order to make them harder or worse! coco The sheer weight of all the attachments is part of what has contributed to the technical difficulties that caused the problem with attaching images. There is no reason why someone needs to attach a 2 meg giant image to the post, but they do, and it takes a toll. It was not a change in policy or tinkering with the forums. Even if you are unable to attach, you can always put an imagine inline that is hosted on another site. There are all kinds of free and paid image hosting sites. You are not prevented from putting a picture in your ad, even if there are still problems with attachments. If you need assistance with how to do inline images and finding an image host, please let me know. I would be happy to help.

Enabling the full wysisyg editor thingy makes posting images a good bit easier. lots more options, too. if you havent done this already, go to your User CP and look here: to add an image, click the button in your post-writing window that has the mountain on it: put in the link to your pic, it will display in the window where you type the text. Also, keeping images to a maximum width of 512 is a good idea. just in case that helps. sorry for the looooooong image. I cant believe how far down the page the option to turn on the full editor is buried.
