Umm I logged in the morning and noticed I had a little less junk in my trunk than usual. I checked my shape the number were right, I wasn't ruthed, and my other shape that is exactly the same had the same problem. I had to add 10 to my butt slider to make it look right again. Anyone else noticed they lost some of their booty over night?

It would just figure that a diet would work on my #&$% avatar and not me.

But, no. My avs' tushie seems to be the same size as it was in 1.6.x.

Maeve, you may be onto something in some cases... there've been this recent thread of previously seamless clothes now getting seamed at the waist. Indeed, if you see me inworld, something is a little different I don't recall from before.

I did look a tiny bit thinner... which is annoying. I mean, this is pretty much the only MMORPG that has fat girls in it; what happens if they decide to nerf this attribute? I'd quit.

It's only the also MMORPG (or equivalent term) that allows guys to dress so easily in girls's clothing without so much as a "class change". Hehehe. You make a great point! :)

I believe the av model has changed a bit with every point release. There are always complaints of clothing that no longer fits, larger butts, longer waists, less wavy hair and such.

The worst av-related problem though have been the female anims. They've become progressively degrading making for quite some interesting social observations - not that anyone is playing head games with anyone or anything publishable like that or such.

yeah I know what you mean.. but I see them for sale on the forums all the time.
Also a lot of the character AVs for sale have a bodyshape set in them. Ruatha's snow leopard comes to mind.

I suppose full avatars are different. And any designer wanting to keep their customers will be working on an upgrade or be willing to tweak. I was refering to basic shapes though.

You know, I've also heard of people making and selling full skins that don't use the tattoo layer... which means they're just tweaked default skins... Now this is ok, but apparantly (I've not seen first hand) they're also some of the most expensive!

Ok... and people buy these? There is only so much one can do with sliders, how freakin lazy do you have to be before you fall into a coma and die in your computer chair?

Boy do I hear you on this one. Heck, look at how many dw33bs out there are reselling freebies, or take a free gun, put the scripts in an even crappier gun build, and then sell it. It's pretty sad. :/

Just for information... Selling and buying shapes is not always an underhanded or nefarious affair.

Lots of people are "slider challenged" and one of the best ways to get an idea of the possibilities is to buy a shape that is close to what you want, so you can see how it is done.

Colette Meiji for instance, sells a "pack" of different girl shapes at a very cheap price encompassing everything from "supermodel" to "curvy." For a newbie to get a hold of this pack and experiment is a very helpfull and inexpensive leg-up in avatar creation IMO.

I bought this pack myself to use as examples to newbies when I am mentoring, and I also collect other peoples shapes (when offered), even though I am more than happy with my own form and hardly ever change it.

Buying shapes is no weirder than buying any other item that you *could* make for yourself. Why not let the folks that have a talent for it, sell their wares to those who don't?

:)

I see no problem with buying shapes, I thought about making a few to sell myself cause I like making shapes and seem to be pretty good at it, I'd make them mod and copy, no trans though so if someone wanted to personalize their shape they could. I was talking about the slider skins, trained monkeys can use the skin sliders.

Yeah I first thought that buying shapes was silly but there are some people out there that just can't do it. It seems weird -- because makin shapes with the slider bars comes pretty easily to me and I make different shapes all the time. But some people are just slider-challenged.

I bought colette's set of shapes, too, in order to model women's clothing that I made. As a male (in RL and my Avie), I had no clue what sliders to do to get a female look--everything I did just looked wrong. So the shapes saved me a LOT of time and headaches!!

I have no clue what 'slider skin' is, but it does seem the way to go is with the tatoo skin--but gosh--it's SO expensive!!!

I would guess they probably don't know they could make these themselves.

coco

P.S. Or, as was suggested, they are slider-challenged, or interested in saving time. In this case it would be no different from somebody buying a house they could have made themselves entirely using the tools available in SL.
