That's reasonable. I was comfortable budgeting about 1500 or so weekly under the new system, dependendent upon performance. I'll need to come up with a clever way of tracking conversions.

I thought it changed now to 1 week because of this snippet from the release notes:

"The new starting price for ads has been decreased from L$250 to L$50 for a one-week run"

Well, Anshe has one for 5000 at the moment.

They're for one week.

I have to admit, without prices, the ads are a little useless to people.

Not that they were super useful before, but at least they gave you an idea of what you were tp'ing to.

I think they'll stay, and show up at L$250, until they were supposed to run out..

Well, I should qualify that. Reasonable for me. I'm sure there will be people who will top out at 10k/week or even more. If they're getting ROI on that, well, more power to them. But I think 1k or thereabouts isn't much to spend for targeted advertising.

But this whole system is so stupid.

Nothing I make costs as much as one of the lowest price ads I could afford. Even if I had the money to spend, one week of advertising somewhere near the end of a list thats bound to be pages and pages long? All you people with the established businesses like those in the Midnight City crowd are all going to do alright, but no one else will be able to join the clique.

I know LL is "all about the money" lately, but I dont see how this makes sense even from the business point of view. In RL, big money magazine ads use this format, but how many regular folks take out an ad in Cosmopolitan?? The "Classifeds" in RL are a flat format, mostly *fee* service of the community newspaper.

Me thinks whomever thought this idiocy up is used to working with the rich folks and has not a clue about the real people that make up our world.

They need more categories.

I purchase a Classified ad purely for the little green hand that shows up on my property. Since I have land in Miramare near the Welcome Area in Dore, I think that new people searching around there notice the hand on the map. Or maybe I'm deluding myself. Regardless, I doubt I'd spend more than about L$250 per week on advertising in the Classifieds.

I was the highest for a little while, at L$2500. I hear that Anshe has outdone me at L$5000.

This really does squish the small shops.

And it will be paid for in the hidden cost of people giving up on their little, unique SL businesses.

Perhaps this is a great sink for $L and will help us a little that way, but overall... she's right.

I wish they had given up on the heavily gamed dwell system, instead.

The new system is $50/week. Sure it will be hard to find the ad but the old ads cost $250 and were abused by the "spaces game". If someones business makes less than 50$ a week then their time would be better spent finding other ways to market their products in the first place. Word of mouth and the forum classifieds are probably a better marketing tool if business is that slow. Not to mention if you made less than 50$ a week then you were losing 200$ minimum per old ad. If thats the case, spend more time on your products and less time on advertising, for now.

The classifieds are such a f*cked up mess that I think people will still use search to find what they are looking for and scroll... An well designed visual ad and good search terms should keep you in the game.

I know we're not paying more than the minimum. Voting with our $L
