Do the changes in the events and classifieds policy announced today affect yard sales? If they do, they will likely seriously impact most real yard sales.

A yard sale operating as a business (a "perpetual yard sale";) will not have a problem coming up with 75L to 125L every week; however a yard sale running for a few days or a weekend only might not find a classifieds ad economically viable--especially since next to no one reads the darn things.

To clarify, I'm talking about the changes proposed to the in-world classfieds, not the forum classifieds.

Thank you for this and the dozen other pointless replies, Jamie. ;)

Just my two cents:

In my town, you have to get a permit from the Township to hold a Garage Sale. These permits cost $35.

This encourages folks to get together and hold 'community' garage sales instead of individual ones - unless you plan to make a significant amount off your individual sale.

Additionally,

The RL community garage sales I see around me typically have a start & end time - like "Saturday 9am-3pm". In reading Jesse's post, it seems that as long as a yard sale has a definitive start & end time, and has a host/leader to it - it is indeed acceptable to place on the events calendar. (Although I could be wrong on this).

Either way, I think instead of this policy change supressing all yard sales, it will instead force folks to get more creative. :)
