Donate in L$

I couldn't find anything on this. Is there a way that a person can donate L$ to someone. Much, like a donate via Paypal link, except with L$.

Look them up in Search->People, click Pay.... Or if you're near them in-world, right-click (cmd+click for you Mac users) on their avvie and hit Pay...

Yup - what you do is hit the search button in world - go to people - and type in Siggy Romulus.

Then hit the 'Pay' button - type in the same number that corresponds to the number on the top right corner of your screen.

The rest is an automated process that ensures the money goes to where it will do the most good.

I was thinking more of a web based thing. Like, click a button on a website, put in amount, hit donate. Viola!

If all your wanting is something like a box you can pay money into that will go to 'person x'... yes you can - its not really that hard to do and when I get home from work I'll do up a script to do it for you.

And I'll give you the script so you can read and modify it so you know I'm not going to make it donate money to me

Hi Corona, the solution is simple. You can communicate with objects in-world via email. Simply set up an object to make payments when it receives an email with the payee's name. Then, create a webpage that creates an email and sends it to the object. Voila!

This is exactly how many vendors work - when they sell a product, the payment information goes to an external web database, which divides the payment up appropriately and then sends the information back to an object in the game via email, which then pays each vendor his or her correct share of the proceeds.

Users would have to register, in advance, like paypal, and they would receive an object in game that they would have to permanently rez somewhere that would always be listening for an email to arrive. Only group members with land or land owners would qualify, or free accounts with friends who let them leave objects lying around.

You'd also have to be very tight with security so that someone couldn't spoof an email to the object and send money from your account without permission.

That's the basic gist of it, however.

Right. What I want is a link on a website that, when clicked, pulls up the donation form for person X in second life. Then the user can determine how much to donate.

Hi Siggy, I don't think Corona is talking about a standard tip jar. You would need multiple scripts both inside the game and on an external webserver, as well as a database to keep track of registered users.

Actually, the tip jar thing may work. If I put one in our offices ingame, then use the button on our site to point to the jar via slurl...

The frist thing you do is come to my land. Then right click on my AV and select the "pay" button.

Then just type in the amount you want to donate and hit the ok button.

I can send you a TP if you want, no problem at all.
