Hey all,
I Just got a HP w/ Centrino Duo processor. It come's with the nVidia GeForce Go 7600. This thing plays SL like a dream. 45 fps in a normal running sim, 11 in the Edge.
I ran it next to my desktop (which has a 6600gt inside) and ended up with 2-3 fps more. This laptop plays BF2 on high and antialiasing x4.
I bought it for $1100... great deal.
Anyone who is thinking about a Laptop but was scared SL wouldnt run the greatest should check this out.

I just gave up on laptops today after trying a Toshiba Qosmio and and an HP. The Toshiba ran Second Life like a dream, no doubt. But I also play The Sims 2 on my laptop ( I had a Toshiba Satellite, which is in the shop getting a new motherboard, thank god for extended warranties.). Anyway, my husband suggested to me that I get a new laptop and he'd use the old one when it came back. After about 20 trips back and forth to Best Buy between Thursday and Sat. night, I finally threw in the towel after the Toshiba Qosmio kept crashing The Sims 2 (blue screen of death crash, not just crash to the desk top) and the HP crashed to the blue screen of death 3 times within a few minutes of getting it home and then, after another back and forth trip to Best Buy, crashed after I loaded The Sims 2. It didn't even crash after loading the whole game, just playing the movie that plays when you select a city. Second Life will run quite nicely on a well equipped laptop. It runs like a dream on my new Gateway with an nVidia Ge Force 6600 (an upgrade, along with a new power pack to handle the graphics card and computer) and I have 2 gigs of RAM. I wish I could afford a "real" gaming laptop. but for now, I'm satisfied with what I have. Enjoy your new laptop. One thing I found, since I have an ATI card in my other computer, that seeing the water effects in SL now, with the nVidea, is really amazing. Beautiful effect!
